Who makes exhausts for auroras? Are the bolt on systems, or do the new cat and mufflers get welded on, or is the enitre exhasut replaced? How much does it cost?
Part 2 Who makes the loudest exhaust? quietest? most powerful? least? best sounding?

I don't think anyone makes them specific for the Aurora. I believe you need to piece a system together and go from there. I would say to weld anything you get on. If you go bolt on, you may be asking for something bad to happen.
Part 2:
Depend on how much you want to spend. There are people that get thier resonators cut off and weld dynomax mufflers on. Then thier is some that like the quiet line of Magnaflows.

Have a look thru this Performance forum, there is a TON of data on exhaust setups on our car. They should prove to be helpful

If you do like me. Drive yourself and the Aurora over to a Midas shop and they will put it on the lift and check out the specifications and dimensions for free (if they are nice like my shop is) Then if you want the DynoMax, Magnaflow, Flowmaster whatever mufflers, and you understand how much its gonna cost , they will order it from the sizes the car has, Not tied directly to the car as a bolt-on spec. They dont make them for this car cause its an old folks car and old people want quiet exhaust.
This car is way too nice for the exhaust to be so quiet like it is on the stock exhaust IMHO. A nice car needs a nice sounding exhaust setup.
Of course if you are loaded you can get the Corsa system i think, or the full cat-back like Jim did.
They told me that the Flowmaster would be way too loud on this car, and that i wouldnt like it over time and would eventually run past a cop that wants to fine me for how loud it would be, with the resonators removed. I liked Magnaflow and Dynomax. I was going to get Magnaflow, but they were $75 more and i didnt want to spend it. I think they were stainless though, which wouldve been nice.
One thing you gotta watch is that the performance dynomax series like i got only lasts a few years or so many miles and they said your gonna need to replace it, since its not stainless steel. I dont put many miles on at all, and the car is garaged half the time so its not a problem for me.

although expensive, Borla mufflers sound g-r-e-a-t! I had them on the Riviera and it sounded like a V8 really. If it sounds like that on a supercharged V6 it should really sound good with the extra 2 cylinders singing through the pipes. I think the Borla's I got were something like $80 a peice.

I just did some investigating and found that there are no performance exhaust systems made specifically for the Aurora. I'm new to this board and have spent some time going though the posts. Even dl'd some of the vids and was very turned on by the sound emitted by the Dynomax and Magnaflow setups. As mentioned in my intro post I am going to trick out my 'new' Aurora (98, black on tan). After some thinking, at first considering the Razzi body kit, I've decided to go with an exhaust upgrade before I do anything else (besides, the Aurora body as it is, is quite racy). Leaning toward the Magnaflow setup. Here's where you guys can help. Jim with your setup, dual exhausts, are there also two mufflers? And what are the differences between a catback system and a regular exhaust system? I hope I'm asking this question correctly. Not too up auto jargon. From what I've read here and elsewhere the free flow systems are what I should be looking for. K&N filter included. I will post before and after pics once I get started (picking up car next Thursday). Also, how often, if at all, do you guys get your engines detailed? A dirty engine can hurt performance.

Mine was made specifically for my Aurora... I'm pretty sure Borla used to have a system specifically for the classic.

yours is the Borla than right? CORSA. They made a limited run for 2001+ Auroras a couple of years back. There ended up being very few takers, in spite of numerous folks expressing interest, so I doubt they'll do it again.

Borla doesn't currently list a system for Aurora Classics on their web site. However they do have a request form and universal mufflers that can be installed at any shop or a handy shade tree owner. And Stevensolds has some good info in his post about relative costs and noise levels that I agree with. Corsa and Borla are very nice sounding with a good blend of throughty deep end without shouting, but you pay plenty for this quality. A good comparison in less expensive lines is Dynomax, where the Ulrtaflow line is performance orientated and noisy, while the Super Turbo has a quieter, deeper sound, but less performance. www.dynomax.com/default.htmwww.flowmastermufflers.com/cgi-bin/flowmaster/index.htmlwww.corsaperf.com/autohome.htm

Yes ultra flow is a lot more money, and more performance, but id rahter have the performance sound than something that sounds like a DC-10 jet when taking off

I wanna go 2.5" SS tubing, highflow cat, no resonator, and the muffs from one of the companys I listed. Im torn between the Borla, Flowmaster, and Magnaflow. I like the Borla Turbo, but as for Magnaflow and Dynomax im not sure what to go with. With the setup I mentioned its gonna be loud so I just want something that will enrish the sound.
