sure.. lets delete the Cat Converter! I hear that after you do that, your horsepower will be just awesome! You might have trouble acceleratiing from stop signs now, and you definately won't be able to burn out but atleast you'll gain a few horsepower! Oh, those cat converters are just junk anyway.. they're all hype you really don't need them. People say that backpressure is important, but I don't buy it man! That's all those little buggers do is create backpressure anyway, right? I'm sure that your buddy will do an awesome job welding stainless steel, especially when he welds a non SS pipe to replace that converter. Your exhaust system will probably fall apart at those welds a few years from now but it's no big deal! You can just duct tape it back together man. It'll be hella cool though while it lasts. Go ahead and chop off that converter and you'll see what REAL performance is!!!

lol. That isnt even on my list yet bud.... Good. and lets make sure it isn't on your list. You do know why people cut off their catalytic converts in the first place right? Most do it not for performance but because the internals of their converter have either become destroyed over time, or because it has become plugged causing excessive backpressure which can lead to overheating, and drivability issues. You don't seem to have either of those problems. So on a good running car, and a car like an Aurora, do yourself a favor and keep a converter on this car, along with a resonator. P.S. Thanks for the smite.

Modern catalytic convertors flow pretty well. Unless you are making a lot of power, they can probably be just fine. Look how much wider it flares out to than the stock pipe. The substrate is straight-through. Flow really shouldn't be a problem unless there's something wrong with it.
You will notice more noise, though, if you remove it. As well as more pollutants, though you may not notice that immediately, but rather later when your car is covered in acid rain or something.
There are a lot of cars out there that make one hell of a lot more power than your Aurora, and are still emissions legal. If you can't retain that while modding your car, you just aren't trying...

Pull the lil screen off your MAF, put a highflow cat, a 75 shot of NOS (one of those sneaky pete systems), get the 80mm TB and cut the coolant line from the TB and you'll have all the cheapest power mods you can get before getting heavy in the motor. Some better tires would help you hook up to the street if you're looking for better times. You got the 95 so go for a chip, although you'd only gain maybe like .4 of a second off the 1/4 time. if you're gonna drag this car out a bit more get rid of the a/c system completely. not only will you save some weight, but some drag from the pulley. Weight really ain't too much of a factor in this already heavy car. But seriously if you really want to lighten up take out all the sound deadener the spare tire the seats (all of them) and replace the driver side with a racing seat, take off the hood (works really well if you got the cone filter), the radio and speakers are out as well. if you really want to get extreme take off the doors i'll bet that will cut off at least 300lbs. it won't look pretty, but you'll probably have the fastest aurora. And so now for the hijacking........ anybody ever try the dynomax ultraflow mufflers?

Pull the lil screen off your MAF do NOT do that, i was informed from my friend that went to UTI (automotive technition school) that it blocks a lot of stuff, especially if you're using a "high flow filter"

I thought we didn't have a MAF? Or is it one of those 95/later year things?

Pull the lil screen off your MAF do NOT do that, i was informed from my friend that went to UTI (automotive technition school) that it blocks a lot of stuff, especially if you're using a "high flow filter" I wouldn't pull it off either as it would mess with the calibration I'm sure. Putting in fuel to match the air is the way to make power, not by having a poor guess at how much air is coming in. However, I really doubt it catches anything unless you have some catastrophic filter failure. Look at the screen. If it caught stuff, you'd see it there stuck to the screen. I've never seen that on any of my cars.

i've had a few things on mine, no doubt from changing the filter and all that.

the purpose of the screen is to straighten out the airflow before it enters the intake manifold. I may be crazy, but I could have sworn the screen was actually located after the MAF sensor on my 3.5. I'll have to check sometime this weekend.

Steve a nice dry NOS kit with a 75-100 shot could be the best bang for the buck.

I am not sure i have the self-control for that type of modification. I can't see myself "occasionally" using spray, as WC is overpopulated with ricers that i blow out as a daily occurance.

well if you're already blowing out ricers, then why the need for more power?

I dunno, may be just a phase hehe. I could use an extra 10 or 15 horses any day though. Its been getting me to thinking -- I am not dumping any more into my car. Infact if something is on the edge of breaking i will drive the balls out of my moms truck like I have been doing (~1200 miles in 2 months on the truck, hehe) and not fix my car. I will just save up all I can until i can afford a nice 94 or 95 Z or T/A rag.
