Yeah its really nice. The engine is what im drooling over. There are a few 05 XLR's rollin arond town here. Mostly older people with the top down. I think this years is the 5.7L LS6, not the SC northstar. A SC northstar would be nice to have in our cars.

the XLR is a funny car.. my grandfather had one for a couple months but he had to exchange it because the roof chopped off his head - he was too tall for it! (6'3-4" I think).. now soo happy with the SRX, the srx is quite boring...

This is on a RWD version of the Northstar, so the intakes aren't similar at all. The STS-V and XLR-V should be pretty sweet. I'd still take a CTS-V over the STS-V, and a Z06 over the XLR-V, but cool cars none the less.

(salivates). i would love a corvette engine in a luxury sedan. steve: what exactly did you buy off of ebay? a new hood? oil insignia? the sc? the engine?

Rear wheel drive? Noticed that. Wonder why?

probably so they wouldn't have to make a new transaxle to be able to handle that power when they can use the same ones.

why didn't they make a 440hp front-drive sports sedan? I'd guess mainly because they want them to sell them... The XLR is built on the Corvette platform, so it pretty much has to be RWD. The STS moved to RWD because they didn't sell very well as FWD. Edit: they did make a new transaxle to handle the power. It's a 6-speed automatic, the 6L80-E I believe?

The STS-V and XLR-V. Isn't that what we are talking about here? Maybe I should actually read that article...

Nah, speculation and assumption is more fun... ;D Well, the S/C Northstar is only going in two cars currently... And I was right anyway, it's the XLR-V the link was about. Both will have a 6-speed auto.

after thinking about what you said about the front wheel drive and torque, it makes a lot of sense. my front end lifts up pretty high when i floor it and it looses traction because of it. if you had another hundred foot pounds in there...
that said i've always liked front wheel drive more than rear. it feels as if i have more direct control and i like the feedback i get from the steering wheel - it lends to my overall perception of the situation.

The torque steer with 440 supercharged lb-ft would be pretty wicked through FWD also.
