Bonneville Club has placed Ty (speedy guy, owner of domestic performance) on their black list of companies not to purchase from. There have been over a dozen members that paid for merchandise over a YEAR ago and never recieved it. Now he has gone into hiding and no one can seem to get into contact with him... stay away from DP!

One question: How does Domestic Performance hope to stay in business?

One question: How does Domestic Performance hope to stay in business? because of the wide array of products, and vehicles he "caters" to he gets a ton of business because most don't know about how he's running that business. But, think about it.. If he gets an order for one of his high performance transmisssions whcih cost what, $3,000, that is a huge chunk of change.. These people don't seem to ever see their products they purchase from him. I don't know if truely the vendors he uses truely take as long as he claims, or if he's pocketing the money. by mistake I did once purchase a $200 set of rotors for my Riviera.. It took me FOUR months to get them! I was perturbed to say the least.

Wow! Sounds like some guys I've dealt w/ in the past on the sport compact scene. Thanks for the heads-up guys. I probably wouldn't have bought anything from the site anyway\ because I dont have 6K for a turbo and most of their other stuff can be bought on eBay of 1/2 to 1/3 of his price. Nevertheless, thanks again for the caution - I'm glad I found a board with some good peeps who have been into the domestic scene for a while.

I contacted te shop that did my exhaust for me. They said they would custom build me a twin turbo, take about 2 weeks, and $8,000. He estimated about a 175HP gain. If I get a decent enough settlement off my accident...which we are working on at the moment....I am going to have to take them up on it.
That includes upgrading every engine component that would need to be in oreder to withstand the extra power. Yeah baby!

OMG your so lucky. Would you really do it though?? That would be really really sweet.
One thing, you would need bulletproofed tranny. Tack on another 3 grand or so for that. But it would be a total sleeper...you could take anyone.

the 3.5 would scream with a turbo on it. just a small turbo would make the V6 Aurora faster than many other cars and would be quite a bit cheaper. albeit with the single turbo you wouldn't have to beef up the internals either. THe 3.5 is a very well built engine. hmmm. the possibilities. Too bad I still owe 8,000 on mine. lol.

If I get a settlement of $20,000 or more, I am pumping $10,000 of it right back into it, and the other 10 is going to pay it off, I owe about $13,000 currently.
Shop just told me to give them about a 2 week notice, so they can start ordering parts. They said single turbo would put me at about 310 HP, twin sould put me at about 400 HP. I may need to have a new hood made for it though, there's not much room under there.
But I totally will do it if I get enough money. I have a husband and 2 kids to take care of, so if I get any less than $20,000 it's going to have to wait. So, I guess we'll see. They're ready though, and they know what they're doing.

yeah, that's the 1st move to make - stop letting the bank take all that interest money from you and keep it for yourself!

Um, I don't want to sound like a wet blanket here, but I do have a few questions... This "shop" you speak of, what sort of work do they normally do? What kind of shop is it? Before you give them your $8,000, or half of that as a downpayment, you might want to find out some specifics:
What compression ratio will they use? Will they change it? How will they provide 400hp worth of fuel to the motor? How will they control that fuel? Will they make new manifolds to house the turbo? Is there room for turbo off the front manifold? Will the turbos need a pump to scavenge oil out of them since they will be so low? What kind of boost is the target? How will they control it? Where would you fit an intercooler?
What kind of custom turbo installs has this company done so far? Sorry to be skeptical, but there are very few forced-induction FWD Northstars out there. In fact, I've never heard of any, except for ones installed in non-FWD cars like sand cars and the Shelby Series 1. I'd think supercharging would be a lot easier than turbocharging, and efforts to supercharge the motor have not taken off either.

Bleah, my plan to photochop some hood scoops onto a picture of your car went horribly awry...
