There are two videos here. The 1st one is the shortstar accelerating from 55 MPH to 95 MPH. This is to show passing speed on say, a highway for example. The second video is a 30-90 MPH video. I think it's funny that it takes the same ammount of time to go from 30-90 as it does to go from 55-95.. That just shows the fact that the shortstar has best acceleration at lower speeds.. once it shifted into 3rd gear it was pretty much done though. I think it could go to its 130 MPH governor but I'd never want to try it.. The V6 accelerates decenty i suppose especially if you consider it's still a 3,600 pound car with 215 horsepower. Then also you have to figure in I have the heavy sunroof, most options, and about 50 pounds worth of stereo equipment added. I removed nothing from the car to save weight. With me, I'd venture to guess my car weighed around 3,900 pounds total. (i weigh 200 pounds.) *Both videos were taken on a long, straight, freshly paved back road that is between two wheat fields. There was NO traffic on this road at the time. The outside temperature was a little over 80* with little humidity. 55-95 media.putfile.com/highspeedshortstar30-90 media.putfile.com/lowspeeshortstar

Sounds good!! For a N/A 6 banger, she moves. It's not bad on gas and it looks nice too. The car's a keeper. Don't go looking for too many faults, you'll always find them and a lot of the time they are just in your head. Remember Little Grasshopper, a Car is a Car is a Car....... If it looks nice and drives nice, that's a bonus, drive it until the tires fall off and then get a new one. My 2 cents.

Well that is not just a means of transportation -- its a really nice car. So its not just a car.
It does move for sure. Faster than i thought it was, but for some reason I think the classic 4.0 could still beat it. Not sure...

If anything the Classic 4.0 should still have a little bit of an edge to it. Bnicov, you're right, it really is a nice, beautiful car. I sometimes let the "speed demon" get to me. I usually don't drive fast but when I want acceleration it's nice if it's there. Coming from a supercharged car I guess I was expecting too much out of the twin cam V6. It does well for its size though. The aurora certainly is one nice ride.

Absolutely. It's great to be able to pass the occasional slow poke on the two lane highway and know that you can get by them easily.

That just shows the fact that the shortstar has best acceleration at lower speeds.. once it shifted into 3rd gear it was pretty much done though. It seemed like in the 30-90 run that it shifted around 50mph anyway? They didn't seem to take the same length of time to me. I would have thought it would run it out longer in 1st, my car runs to about 6400 before shifting, and the 3.5L has 200 extra revs to play with. Cool vids, though. And the car sure seems to pull well. It's always hard to get a feel for it just watching the speedo and not being there. So are you liking DOHC motors more now?

Cool vids. Seems stronger down low, but I think even mine has more pull to redline. I think my roommate has a digicorder I could borrow, strictly for comparsion purposes, of course

Indeed, only for comparison.

I forgot to mention that on the 1st video I was getting some bad vibration under WOT and a pinging sound. I'm running 91 octane too. I've never felt a vibration like that while accelerating hard. It didn't do it while recording the second video though.

I was going to do the same kind of vids today, but there were way too many cops out. And also to add to the major congestion, a swarm of all the college kids coming back. On their first week back, there were already parties with hot girls lining out across the street and through apartment's back yards. lol. I didnt want to risk it. Perhaps tomororw (today) will be better.

91 octane. That may be a bit low actually.
