Got 2 x 17730 Dynomax Super Turbo. 130$Can with tx. Plus 10$ worth of U-clamps, cut the old mufflers, slided in the new ones. A wooping 30 minutes work. Aligning the tips was hard work, but easier with some help: 4 hands are better than 2. And the reason I changed mufflers: I miss the outside WOT growl already. So far, it's real quiet. It takes at couples of weeks for the muffler to reach it's final sound. But the "before" setup was getting annoying, inside drone was too much. I bought the same dimension muffler just one step louder with the Thrush. Do you have any finished pics with the clamps installed? Did they clamp up well with no leaks? Reason its going from 1-7/8" pipe to 2" muffler inlet and 2" muffler outlet to 1-3/4" tip pipe. I am debating on whether or not to purchase some 1-7/8 to 2" adapter and 2" to 1-3/4" adapter. Which means twice the amount of clamps... Exhaust shops are charging a premium these days around here..

My guess......The best way of tucking in the tips would be to shorten the pipe between the resonator & the Y-pipe. That way the Y-pipe could be moved foward.

Marc - That was my thought on that too, I'll check with the shop who put it on for me but if not then I will just leave it. lkraft92 - that is a great sound! Looks really clean too, I could not really tell but it looks like your tips are tucked in perfect.

Looks nice, but I would see about someone trying to tuck them in a little bit more. By the way it looks like you have an Escalade also in the garage?

aj - yeah, just bought it 2 weeks ago. I gave up on finding a final 500 Bravada, but I still keep an eye out for them.
lkraft92 - those look good, I am going in tomorrow to see if they can move mine back about 3 inches

what a beautiful sound. that should sound almost exactly like mine because i have the same basic set up, 2.5 in, no resonator, and a glasspack. the only thing i dont have is the gutted cat. quick question, did you use one glasspack before the Y of 2 small ones after the Y. i have one before the Y.

Lathan, so what your saying is you swapped out the resonator with a glass pack. i have 2.5" pipe where the resonator was and dual Red Hots after the Y (one per side) i imagine they do sound similar, make a video and post it. if you don't have a camera that can i will be making a video at the meet.

Having a proper exhaust will maintain the backpressure that is required to elevate performance. Stripping an exhaust system of vital components causes a loss of backpressure and renders the modification useless. it's not the loss of backpressure that kills performance, it's the loss of exhaust velocity. ditching the mufflers/resonator/cat and sticking to stock size piping, you'll see hp and tq gains.

I'm heading to the muffler shop now -- I want a little bit more sound out of mine.
Mine atm has just a muffler delete -- Nothing else is done. I think I'm going to get some 2.5" piping from the Y-pipe back and see how it sounds.. I'm not expecting a much different sound. I just want it to be a bit deeper -- I want to get it to that perfect niche, where it doesn't crackle on deceleration, etc.
I'll update ASAP.
EDIT: Okay. I realized if I get the 2.5" from the Y-Pipe back, I don't have any tips, and I can't afford them right now! Luckily, the muffler shop has some that are the perfect size & shape, polished chrome, that are $80 for the pair.
Anyways, today I had my resonator replaced with a glasspack. Sounds different -- At idle, it's pretty much the same. However -- From my perspective (in the car) it has a little bit less raspiness, and a more crisp tone without the popping on deceleration. However, I cannot confirm this 100% without hearing my car outside of it.
I do like the change. Still want to get that -perfect- sound, though!

Had a new Y-Pipe made (2.5") and 2.5" piping all the way around now. Still no tips, and can't notice much of a difference in the sound, but I was really wanting to get the tips out from underneath the car, and I have. No drone now, thankfully!

by a performance cat, do you mean a high-flow cat?
If so, I've considered getting one. However, I don't want to go too close to going 100% straight piped. lol
