I had considered sending this as a PM, but thought it might be better to discuss with the whole population.
I see that forum rules seem to be laxly enforced. They might even seem selectively enforced, but I doubt that is intentional.
One rule that seems to go unenforced is this:
I do see Elan do a lot of cleaning up of posts, but the vulgarity continues and makes me wonder what happens other than Elan sanitizing it. One suggestion I would have is to delete the entire post, not just the offensive part. Otherwise, what's the incentive not to be vulgar. You can post whatever you want, and Elan (or other mods) will simply fix it for you. Why bother to fix it yourself?
The second one is a bit more concerning to me. It seems to me that constantly bashing a certain type of car, especially one owned by several members of this board, and also the type of car that spawned this board in the first place, is clearly against this rule:
How many repeat violations of this have there been? What exactly gets done about it? As far as I can tell, not much. The posts aren't even removed.
The thing is, is none of this is a big deal. This is just some forum on the web, so who really cares? But what the problem is, is that it is just a forum on the web. It's very easy to walk away from, just close your web browser and it's gone.
But the goal of this site is to build a community of Aurora owners and Aurora fans. If you make it so it isn't enjoyable for some people, or they feel like the rules are arbitrary, etc, it is *very* easy for them to just leave. And there goes a contributing member of the community. Or there goes someone who was perusing the site but was turned off by what they read. Maybe they would have been a great participant, but now are not interested in joining.
Web forums are delicate things because of their very nature. It's easy to leave. And it's easy to be a jerk behind a computer. The members ultimately make or break it, but the moderators need to prune it and help it grow in the right direction.

No vulgarity in post content or signatures. Avoid using cr3ative spel1ing to avoid language filters in place.

No flaming of other members to incite or perpetuate a conflict or argument.
Personal attacks or name-calling can get you banned. Repeated offenses WILL get you banned
