i have a suggestion to make...we should have a link on the "Oldsmobile Club of America's" website.....they do not, for some strange reason, have an Aurora chapter, so maybe Aurora owners that go onto the OCA site will see our link and it will lead them to this forum

The indexing and money generating potential this site had is long gone because Proboards was chosen. It's interesting that this is your train of thought, because I suspect it's about 180 degrees from the initial intention of the thread. It would be useful to make the site easy to google because that may result in more members and better club health. Not because it's more people to make money off of. I don't think anyone affiliated with starting the club was doing it to make a profit. So how do YOU spend your six-figure Admin pay every month? LOL

I find the complete opposite Tj...thats why I said that. Oldsmobile Aurora would be a pretty hard spot to get #1 in i think, or maybe moderate depending on what keywords you bid on. I bet i could get it up with overture in a few weeks. I tried Aurora forum, aurora forums, they came up on the 7th page. Most people dont go past the 5th I think or was it 4th? And yes its interesting Bob, it may have been the complete opposite of what was intended, but wouldnt YOU do this if you started it? I completely intended to be helpful with a few sites (heavy adult langauge so i wont link it) but you can turn them into cash cows (especially since your older, you dont have to be 18 like im waiting to be : . You seem like your knowleadgeable about online stuff too... I remember when cadillacforums just started. I was googling a possible CTS-V my dad was going to get, but that site just started in like march of 03 or something. Had no advertisements on it or hardly little, now he has his own Media Network. When you start getting a TON of visitors like that you'd have to be a complete moron not to take advantage of it. Im not saying this site gets traffic like that (it doesnt), but who knows? It may someday. Theres an old saying that goes around; If you don't pay now, you're going to pay later!!

It sounds like we will all continue to be complete morons then. ACNA members, rest assured that we will NOT be turning this forum into a cash-generating, ad-packed, impersonal collection of commercials like most of the internet has become. The ads that are here are inserted by Proboards (our host) and are beyond our control... if it were up to us there would be no ads whatsoever. The purpose of this board is not to make money, but to share information between Aurora owners & lovers.

I find the complete opposite Tj...thats why I said that. Try putting the phrase in quotes. I know that myself as well as a few others, have been doing our share to "recruit". The more members we have, the more information we can share. And every Aurora owner deserves to know about this fine collection of outstanding people and fellow Aurorians. This is THE largest dedicated Olds Aurora Club/Forum on the Internet. Of that we can be sure.

How does Google find their results now? I don't believe that has changed... should be the same, sites are brought up by relevance which is rated by how many hits/visits a site link has. Since ACNA has so many more hits now than ever (and will hopefully continue to grow), it ranks much higher on Google results.

Amazing to see how the search results have improved over time. Our site is certainly getting many more hits now, which puts it closer to the top on search engines.

I guess I will chime in here since I am the one that hosts the auroraforums.com and auroraclubna.com URLs. I think I may be able to help with this "Google" issue. What I could do is make a page for both auroraforums.com and auroraclubna.com that does nothing more then redirect to proboards. On those pages there would be keywords in the HTML. For the most part people trying to visit through auroraforums.com and auroraclubna.com wouldn't even know anything had happened.
I just thought I would toss that out there as a suggestion.

Mike, feel free to insert any keywords that you think would help... but it seems like the increased traffic to the site(s) URLs has already improved search engine results. In other words, don't go to too much trouble as the system is working pretty well right now.
