If Amanda started this site using PHPbb2 or something similar (NOT web-based forums like proboards) she could have made herself some good extra cash using Google Adsense. I'd like to think this site gets somewhere about 3k unique hits a month or possibly more, but you dont have a way to tell thanks to proboards hosting the site now do ya....
Now I know coming from the heart someone who is helping the community by starting a site like this isn't out there to make money and just has the site up for the sake of doing so, but at least bring in something extra for all the effort you put into it -- ya know? Dont let the proboards creator keep ringing in his dough with the cabillions of forums people use and view every day (although what a GREAT idea...hes a millionairre thanks to it). You ever see what Cadillac-Forums is raking in with their 500k+ hits a month? that guy Sal wouldnt surprise me if hes getting multiple $5k+ month checks from different sources including IntelliTXT.
I'm gonna start by saying I have a site that gets in the neighborhood of 5k unique hits a month (~16-18k totall overall) and I make $250-$300 a month from people clicking google ads...lol. Thats really low too, if I wasnt lazy I could optimize it way better and bring about $500 a month no sweat. But thats a good 20 or so hours that I dont feel like doing right now. Its no joke, and I cant imagine why people would think it is (my dad did at first, but when i start getting checks in the mail...different story). This isnt a sales pitch or any bullsh*t, just a thought if Amanda wants anything at all from the site. Thats all. My buddy started helping me out with this stuff for starters about 2 years ago, and he was making $2500 a month for 7 months until Google terminated his account for using too much profanity and sexual content. Once they terminate you, you are usually shot. He had almost 20k unique visits a month too and still does.
I know the main thing about this site when she started it was the fact that it was free. Yes, thats all fine and dandy but its well worth to spend $100 or so to start it up the right way, and have a 24/7 cash cow paying you back over time. Just think that was 2 years ago already. It seems so many people are on auto-pilot 9-5 work daily jobs, and nobody wants to utilize the internet for what its really capable of. Anyone can do this also, its not hard at all if you have basic HTML and know FTP pretty well. I learned it when i was 10.
