The past couple of days, I've noticed the "Forum Jump" menu at the top of the page is appearing in all the wrong places. On the thread directory pages, it shows up on the right of the screen just below the date in the first entry under "Last Post". When viewing a thread, it appears on the left, just below the username in the first thread entry on the page; however, if the thread has only one entry, the "Forum Jump" menu appears in the proper location. The second "Forum Jump" at the bottom of the page continues to appear in its proper location. It's causing a bit of a headache in that when you select something within the "Forum Jump" menu, it often will react to a link on the page below it instead. I've verified this behavior in both Firefox and Opera browsers on a Mac and a Windows PC. In Safari for Mac, the behavior is the same except the "Forum Jump" menu appears under the first username on the left of the screen. Sorry, I can't speak for it's behavior in Internet Explorer because I refuse to use it.

That is something proboards implemented on their own. ACNA had no say so in installing it and I believe that it can't be disabled.

Now if only we could stop the ads from jumping around too... I noticed they have moved from being located above the conversation thread, to being right AFTER the initial post. Oh well...

Of course, it makes sense from an ad placement perspective, but oh so annoying. I use Firefox and Adblock at home which works great, but at work I am restricted from installing any new software. Therefore I am stuck with basic Internet Explorer. Maybe that means I shouldn't be surfing ACNA while at work........

You could always add a "hosts" file hack, mapping pagead2.googlesyndication.com to some bogus IP. This would prevent the ad javascript from loading.
I hope I'm not violating any terms of service for mentioning this...

Open C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\ETC\HOSTS in notepad (Start -> Run -> "notepad C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\ETC\HOSTS" ) Here's what you'll wanna add: 127.0.0.1 pagead2.googlesyndication.com That's all Personally, I'm lucky enough to have my own linux router, so, I use Squid Caching Proxy in transparent mode (re-routed via IPTables), in conjucntion with Adzapper. That way, the ads even go away in *shudder* IE. And, the client machines don't have to install any software, nor lose CPU cycles to filtering ads It actually is fairly fascinating... Here's a 'for example' of what it looks like (I set it so you can tell where the ads WERE, for the purposes of this screenshot...) Anyhow, HTH scottydl!

Thanks! It looks like this type of code is going to be required on my computers... Adblock is not doing the trick. I can remove the embedded ads on any given page, but the next time I reload it different ads are back. I think the admakers are learning how to defeat the adblockers...

My Adblock on Firefox works perfectly. That and NoScript are the main reasons to go with Firefox.

Yeah, mine has worked fine, on this computer and another one. You're using AdBlock PLUS, right? This one has a subscription service that keeps track of ads servers - and ads them for you. or adds them. yeah. adds the ads' servers.

I think the admakers are learning how to defeat the adblockers... You may be being too specific in what you block. I.e. just blocking that particular ad, and not all ads from that server (there's no useful content you need to get from pagead2.googlesyndication.com)
