Tis the season! Season for snow covered roads that is. With that said, what tires are you running this winter that you would recommend to other members here? It'd be great to know what others are running that are great tires for the snow and slush. It's great to try and keep our members safe this season. Please post brand, size, and a picture if you find it necessary. Please only post about what tires you are running for winter this year and your experience with them. Thanks!
For me, I'm currently running Pirelli P3000 all season tires. I was waiting for the first significant snow fall to put my snow tires on. The Pirelli's for an all season tire handle the slush and snow nicely, but, I would like the added comfort and confidence that a good snow tire would provide.
Pirelli P3000's $95 each
Pirelli's new touring tire blends excellent ride quality with crisp handling and precise stability at highway speeds.
•All synthetic tread compound improves ride comfort and tread life.
•Four circumferential grooves resist hydroplaning for better wet traction.
•T- and H- speed ratings depending on size.
•Available in 75 to 55 series and 13 to 16 inch sizes.
•Nylon cap belts deliver excellent high-speed stability
Yokohama Ice Guard snow tires: $125 each
The Ice Guard IG10 from Yokohama Tire Corporation features today's latest winter tire technology to deliver the traction you deserve. The tires contain tiny “Shelled Micro-Bubbles” which create sharp biting edges and absorb water to deliver confident snow and ice traction. To aid the micro-bubbles, Yokohama uses multi-layer carbon cells that work like straws - drawing water into the tire and releasing it - to enhance contact with the road surface. Instead of using traditional tire sipes, they have chosen to use a Pyramid Sipe to create strong tread blocks and maximize traction under icy, wet and dry conditions. Along with the full-depth Pyramid Sipes, the tires contain Micro Diagonal Sipes to add more biting edges to the tread surface for additional ice and water grip as well as improve water evacuation during the initial use of the tire.
The Yokohama snow tires are great and I would recommend them to other tires. Their grip on wet/slushy/snow covered roads is great! Much better than your typical all-season tire. Their ride on dry clear pavement is also quite good for a snow tire.
