are you sure that GM doesnt call the factory "chrome wheels" from the classics "Polished"....there are a lot of companies that make wheels that look chrome but are polished. check on that maybe?

No, classic wheels only came in Chrome or Painted.
My Bravada and Vette have polished wheels.

GM's official name for the wheels is "Chrome Finish Cast Aluminum", now they may have changed what they called them from year to year.

Everything looks ok there, isnt the term chrome more of a finish, where as polished is a term used to describe a chrome finish?
Either way, $200 bux is a good price for all 4, I wonder what the reserve is?

All I know is, I want chrome wheels. I'm going to ask for a closer picture. I'd deffinitely buy them for $200!

I don't know maybe it's the lighting but those wheels don't look like chrome to me. Maybe someone scraped all the paint of the wheels and then polished the aluminum underneath.

I've asked him and he said they've never been painted.

Wire rims? No Thank You. I didn't like them on my old Delta 88 Royal when I was in highschool either. I do like the factory look and was thinking about a set of polished CTS wheels. I'd like to be able to swap my tires right onto them.

That appears to be a junkyard seller. How would he know if they were painted or not originally? They look polished to me. Polishing might look nicer than chrome, though not as flashy. But you'll probably have to keep up on it more than chrome if it isn't clearcoated.

Right, I have a hard enough time keeping my Vette's wheels polished. I think they look dirty that for sure. Maybe underneath that dirt is chrome? I hope so.

Yea, he probably got them polished from the Aurora they were ripped from. Remember how successful everyone's exhaust tip polishing job went, they turned to rust in a week? Imagine keeping these up. And good luck finding that missing center cap, lol.

Don't worry about that. I've got a chrome cap in my garage waiting for some wheels. I'm betting they are chrome, just dirty. Hey, if I don't like them I can just resell them right?

Theres only three center caps. Would it be hard finding the last one on a rare rim color?

Since I already have one in my garage, it wont be a problem.

Well, I won the bid. Guess we'll find out how they look when they get here. There was some product on the "Trucks" show which polished aluminum wheels and then sealed them which would last up to a year. If I can just remember what it was...

They'll get some very light rust on the inside lip only, nothing very noticeable unless you bend down and look right at them, a little metal polish every couple of months takes care of it though.

Well, got the wheels yesterday. I was so excited because they were not polished as the guy thought, they are actual chrome! Took them to the tire shop and the guy pointed out where the chrome is peeling and coroded bad, and informs me the tires will leak air if I use these wheels.
Sooooooooo.........
Now I have to email the guy I bought them from and tell him. Who knows if I'll get my money back or what he'll want to do. I asked the guy several times if they were chrome because I wanted to know if the chrome was peeling. I also asked the guy for closer pictures which he did not respond to or send. Looks like I'm up a creek, anyone got a paddle?
(I'll have pics soon.)

Euh...is it worth the trouble? It sucks I know, personally I would leave negative feedback, based on lack of communication and possible dangerous product (rims shouldnt cause tires to deflate)
I would get a second opinion about the tire issue, then investigate refinishing. If you got them for a good price, I would keep them and make it a project.

I'm not saying that guy doesn't know what he's talking about, but . . .

Even if there is some slight corrosion on the inside of the wheel, any decent tire shop should be able to lightly sand it down if needed before mounting tires on it. I know I've heard of that being successfully done before. I would still follow up with the seller, and see if you get any response... good luck!
