I know this sounds a little crazy, but I'm from the school that all 4 tires on a car should match. Has anybody had any problems with only replacing say, the two front tires but not the rears? Does this have any effect on the handling of the car? I'd like to get my Kumhos on, but with school tuition for kids and things of that nature, I can only do two at a time. Any thoughts

on my 16" wheels i have goodyears on for the back and some other brand i forget on the front, just because i got them at a steal at $15 a piece and they didn't have a set of four, but they're all basically brand new, and the same size, 225/60-16. i didn't notice any side effects.

The crucial point here is to make sure your drive wheels match. The tread wear and brand of the drive wheels should be the same.
Over the long term, I suspect all tires should match, since tire rotations are important in tire maintenance.

VGP Jim. The drive tires really need to be the same make/size as manufactureres sizing does differ. The reason why the front is so important is that it can mess up the transaxle by one side running continually slower/faster than the other. Also, traction comes in to play should you have two dif. tires on the front.
auroralover, I'm in the same "school" of thinking w/you. When I bought my Aurora it had two dif. sets of tires on it and it looked tacky to me. A car looks so much better and in harmony with one matched set of tires on it. :-)

At the least make sure the tires on each axle are the same otherwise your car will act kinda funky going around corners. It is best to have all four match that way the car will handle much more predictably.

I match the tires on each axle.

I've never actually considered not running all four tires the same. Of course the above posts are correct about the drive axles being the same. I wonder if you could positively affect Aurora handling with different tires front to back. The GXP runs larger front tires to improve the handling of the front wheel drive platform. hmmm.....

when i got mine it had 4 different tires, lol. man did it look stupid. i think when i got Shawn's his were two different brands which isnt that noticable but when i got my 20's and the same set of 4 tires its a huge difference.
but i can see getting replacement tires on these cars are soo expensive. especially when you want the good stuff.
