My plan was to put some 20's on my car and air-bag it this spring.....Lately I've been kind of leaning towards maybe putting some 22's on my car because of the fact that if I bagged my car I would have to do something about it during the winter, because up here in the northeast it get pretty cold and nasty on the roads and I think there would be too much crap that could cause problems with an air-bag setup. I've been looking at some 22's and I started wondering....along with changing the brakes to compensate for the larger wheel and tire, is there anything else I should be changing (ie; suspension/steering parts, reprogramming the computer) Any help or suggestions would be great..... Thanks in advance

why are you going to get an air-bag set-up? isnt that usually when you want to lower it? 22's is going to be too tight i think to drop it. but cant wait to see what it would look like. do you have rims in mind?

I wasn't going to do the bag setup with 22's. My two choices were either air-bags with 20's or just 22's with no suspension swaps. I was just wondering, besides upgrading the brakes, if there was anything elses I had to do.

yeah Javi posted a 2nd gen with 20's and an air-bag system in one of these threads and it looks sooo sweet. you know i perfer the look of 20's with an inch drop then 22's just cause it looks like a really tight fit and plus it looks like the car is lifted which makes it look horrible.
yeah i think brakes would be something you should upgrade, i have to do mine cause my brakes dont seem strong enough for the weight.

I love the bag look, except the problem is that around here during the winter there is a lot of salt, sand, ice, snow, etc. on the roads and I don't want anything affecting the bag system

i thouoght about puttin 22's on mine but i wasnt sure if they would fit or how the ride would be cause just with the 20's its a bumpy ride and im always woried about blowin my tire when i hit a hard bump cause theres barely any tire on my 20's so i could only imagine how little tire there would be on a 22 but let us know cause if it aint to bad ill consider 22 again.

any time you change wheel size your speed ohmmeter will be off some. i don't know how you would fix this prob put your usually talking about a being off 3 to 5 miles an hour bigger tires make your speed o slow and smaller tires make it fast i think thats right or maybe its the other way around any way it will be off

^ you can have ur ECU programmed for a larger wheel size so it will compensate for the loss/gain of mph. As for making my car slower or faster, I'm not too worried about that seeing as I drive 20mph everywhere I go, lol!

mission, i did a good amount of research into this in the spring. we have 2 options for tires. pirelli makes a 245/30/22, which runs about 400 dollars PER TIRE. it would barely increse the rolling diameter, in fact if my memory serves me corectly, when going 65 the spedometer would only read plus or minus 1 mph. our other option is 255/30/22s, by nitto and someone else i think. even with these, the rolling diameter is only incresed by about half an inch, and when you do out the calculation, the effect will be negligable

400 per tire! ouch man. lol. I would get 265/275's for the rear and 255s for the front or something along those lines.

yea in the spring im gonna go with the 255's. the reason they can charge so much is because NOONE else makes 22 inch tires that small! every other car that can fit 22's, IE a new 300, you can put much bigger tires on

I heard the biggest wheel that the Aurora's can fit would be a 23" wheel. Anyone else hear that? Obviously there would be about a 1/2 inch of rubber around them to make them fit but hey if you are building a show car then that would be kinda cool...lol

i doubt that anyone makes a 23 inch wheel with a fwd offset. thats the problem i am having finding 22's. the majority of the wheels that size are rwd offset

i was thinking of selling my 20's and lacing up some 22's but when i called about the rims i wanted i realized that they were gonna be too wide. my rims now are 8.5 inches wide and most 22's are 9.5 inches wide, so in order to fit the 22's i think there might have to be some fender modification, but, then again i havent personally tried it yet so im just speculating.

You don't have to do 9.5 with 22's, they have 22's that are 8.5. Just keep looking.

My bad dude, mu sig picture is an Aurora model pace car, with some aftermarket wheels, not a real thing.
But ah, you can do 22's on a Classic, I have seen some. But 20's a perfect fit for the Aurora's.
