Good sight just found it but did not see any rim speck info ?
Just purchased a 2001 3.5 with the 16 rim Looking for some rim/tire combo info
Looking for some rim/tire combo info as IMO the factory stuff even the 17 rim/ 235/55/17 tire combo looks kind of small for the wheel well size
I noticed the factory tire comes pretty close too the strut area wear the spring sets on the front strut. Thinking 18 as the 235/50/18 is 27.3 but not sure on fit and offest rim width etc so looking 4 the stock # 2 go from.
16 in factory rim does anybody know the factory + offset and the rim width ?
Same 4 the factory 17 rim Offset and rim width. ?
Thanks Clair.

Welcome Clair! Congrats on the new purchase. Welcome to ACNA.
As far as the rim specs, I have no clue. I just by things if people say they will fit. ;d I'm sure that my fellow members are smarter than I am and will know the answer to your question.

Hi Clair, welcome to our forum. Here are some popular sizes that will fit your Aurora. Overall stock height is 27.1" with the 235/60/16. So you can fit 235/55R17; 255/50R17; 235/50R18; and 255/45R18 with no trouble. You could theoreticaly go with 255/55/16 as well, but only truck tires are available in that size. For all the 255 sizes you should also go with a bit wider rim, about 8" or even 8 1/2" would be good. I don't know the exact offset, but I think it's 42mm or 44mm? Don't count on that being correct, but if it is, you may go just a touch smaller offset to fill the wheel wells for appearence and keep the tire away from the suspension.

Geeeeeeeee I hardly ever get a welcome at home ;D ;D LOL
Being it’s a 2001 I believe the factory 16 tire is a 225/60/16 that’s about 26.6 in. Looks like a could go with a 235/60 15 but I would like a bigger dia rim with less side wall so that sort of out of the picture.
American racing shows the OE rim at 51 mm but I have no idea how wide the factory rim is or even if that AR # is correct. I do see a lot of aftermarket rims in the 42/44 area I assume they are at that ## because the rim is wider and they are getting the tracking width back to OEM specks. I could move out Anybody have any 18 rims/ width/offset/ tire size combos they are successfully running.
Also Can the computer be reprogrammed for even a taller tire like a 27.3/27.5 height? Thanks Clair

Yes it can, the TECH2 system equiped on your 2001+ Aurora can be re-programmed to change the Rolling Diameter.
FYI, I'm running 255/50/17 with no problems at all on a Classic, bear in mind, I cannot re-program and I maintained my 27.1" tire height.

The 16" wheel is 16x7.0". The 17" wheel is 17x7.5". I will see if I can find the backspacing or offset in the service manual for you.

My bad, you are correct with the 2001 3.5L being 225/60/16. The 2001 4.0L has the 235/55/17 with the 27.1" overall size, same overall as my Classic. I should have remembered the diff. I still can't find the darn factory offset for either wheel.
