I would wonder more if they will fit properly. It's a RWD car. GM tends to use different lug and backspacing for RWD vs FWD.

They will fit. Kobalt had CTS rims on his Seville and CTS rims are the same as the new STS.
I've been contemplating a set of 05 18" STS rims but haven't found a cheap set.

the problem isn't going to be the lug pattern, it is the offset. the new sts's are rear wheel drive meaning that most likely, these wheels are going to have a 0 offset or even possibly a negative offset. front wheel drive cars have a positive offset on their wheels. putting rear wheel drive offset wheels on a front wheel drive car will cause the wheels to stick out a few inches from the side of the car, and in my opinion, not look to good

Actually, it's the other way around. FWD offsets are typically negative, and RWDs are typically positive

www.tirerack.com/wheels/tech/techpage.jsp?techid=101"The hub mounting surface is toward the front or wheel side of the wheel. Positive offset wheels are generally found on front wheel drive cars and newer rear drive cars." sorry, i was right nice picture on that link at the top of my post that gives a visual

They will fit. Kobalt had CTS rims on his Seville and CTS rims are the same as the new STS. You sure he didn't just have the FWD Seville 17" wheels? They are the same 7-spoke design with those slightly diamonded/edged spokes. Beats me, though... If it works, it works.

Oops, right you are My bad! Considering I posted that EXACT link a few months ago to explain offset to another user, I really shouldn't have mixed that up. Guess I'm just getting old

i forgive you this time but dont let it happen again! lol
mission008, how good is a "good price"? you would probably just be better off buying aftermarker rims w/ tires. not sure of the tire size on those sts wheels, but you might not be maintaining the same rolling diameter. at least buying them new, you'll be able to buy the correct tire size. and also, the price for 17 inch wheels has gone down drastically over the years. i payed as much for my 18's on my 95 cutty back in 2000 as i payed for my 20s on my 'rora!

20inchaurora ...I was just looking around for some nice chrome 17's as stock replacements for now until I get my 20's in the spring...but I'm not going to bother because I would just be spending money to get some wheels that are going to get wrecked in the winters up here...u know how that is....I was going to get the 05 STS wheels and tires for $470 shipped...I talked to the guy off ebay and he was going to make me a deal and not go through ebay but I decided, i'll just wait
