What is the length in MM of the OEM wheel lug bolt on a 2001 4.0?
I have a winter set of rims off a Bonneville SSEi that I really want to put on, but I have encountered a couple issues. When I first went to install them I founf that the clearence from the rim to the caliper was just too close (not otuching, but barely see light between them). So I got the appropriate wheel spavcers and new lug nuts, and now I find the OEM bolts too short to safely bolt on the rim. I can order new lugs, but I need to get them a bit longer than the OEM ones, which I have yet to find their length listed anywhere. Can anyone assist?

Hey there, JimW and I can tell you all about Bonneville rims on our Auroras. The clearance question is an interesting one, and as a matter of fact I had NO issues installing my SSEi rims right over the top of my factory brakes. HOWEVER, many months ago I ordered aftermarket drilled/slotted rotors and new pads to have installed... upon putting everything on (front only), I found that the rims rubbing on the outside of the calipers was the result. Grrr... I put all the original stuff back on at that time. I ordered spacers (15mm I think) off of eBay and took my car to a mechanic to have the new brake parts installed with the spacers... and he essentially refused to install the brakes with the spacers because he doesn't think they're safe, and he said there wouldn't be enough lug remaining for the nut as you mentioned. I'm still not sure WHAT is causing my clearance issues... it would seem strange that the aftermarket rotors/pads would be THAT much thicker than the factory ones. Maybe my factory pads were worn down enough that my SSEi wheels fit up to this point, but new (thicker) pads cause a problem. So I'm kinda stuck too. I *have* heard that it's fine to ground down the outer side of the rotors a bit, to provide clearance... as long as the area is not around a bolt or other connecting point. That's probably the next thing I'll try once I can borrow a grinder. The project continues...

Thanx for the reply. I migh tsee about finding longer studs to use (once I figure out how long OEM are). I would like to make the SSEi wheels winter rims and the factory ones summer rims. I need tires pretty soon and I rather use ones I have than dopping $700 on a new set.

I've had no problems at all with brake clearances. I'll see if I can find a picture or 2 of the rim/brakes and we can compare. Found one, Gordy, how tight is it? Tighter then this? I'm not sure what the length of the lug is...sorry

To measure the length of the bolt, someone is going to have to remove it from the rotor.

They are 2" overall exactly. An inch is 25.4mm or 2.54cm. I think you can figure out the rest ;D

I amso have different rims, and the SSEi rims I have may be deeper in design than the ones in your pic. Thanx for the dimensions. I can see about ordering and testing some other ones to see if any fit.

I can fit several pieces of paper in there!
Good luck with the search. Hope you find a suitable solution
