The Mrs. (misssilver on this board) and I took a little trip to Florida for New Years to meet some friends. Took 231 from Montgomery Alabama to Panama City Florida. It was a 5 hour drive to where we needed to go and it was so sweet. The weather was beautiful with not a cloud in the sky. The traffic was light and the road was mostly 4 lane the whole way. The Aurora drove like a dream so smooth and easy, like sitting in the recliner at home. I got 18.2 MPG driving nice and easy. Kept to the speed limit to maybe 5 over due to all the police presence on the road. With all the years driving this car it is still such a pleasure and a joy to drive.

18.2 seems a bit on the low side....I usually average 25-29 on a mostly highway trip.

18.2 seems a bit on the low side....I usually average 25-29 on a mostly highway trip. Same here, generally in the 23-24 range on long trips but on the ALL highway NY to IL jaunt it reached the 26 range. Every car seems different, as there have been several tales of 30+ mpg on highway trips with a Classic. I think a lot depends on your intake + exhaust, the more open the better.

Glad you had a nice trip. The mileage does seem a little low to me, I have hit 30 mpg on long trips generally 20-24 for normal highway driving( less that 30 miles). But as long as you still enjoy taking her out for trips it's all good.

Maybe he didn't reset it before they left... that could have thrown it off. I know if i leave mine alone it usually says my average is around 15.5, even when i've been on the highway for 20-25 minutes, but if i reset it right before i get on the same highway i'll get 26-28.

Its great to travel when the traffic is light. Those classics certainly are comfortable. Doesn't feel like you've been driving long at all. I really enjoy my 95. Gas mileage is so good that it actually fills itself up the further I go.

I drove from lower Alabama to FT Myers, FL (520 miles each way) to visit friends for new Years. Nothing beats the ride in the classic. 24 MPG @ 80+ and 18" rims and tires. I also ran some injector cleaner and Lucas in the gas. I think the injector cleaner may have fixed my slight hesitation at low throttle. I will find out and update the "95 Surges" post in Classic maintenance if its cleaned up....

With all the years driving this car it is still such a pleasure and a joy to drive. That's so great! 18.2 seems a bit on the low side....I usually average 25-29 on a mostly highway trip. I'm reading all these posts about everybody's average MPG and not feeling so good....I average a depressing 18 or so, and I get this by actually calculating it by hand (which happens to correspond with the DIC). I know I drive pretty aggressively (not like a crazy person, with peel-outs and reckless maneuvers, but more like very efficient, I-want-to-get-there-and-enjoy-this-great-car's-power kind of driving), but it's hard for me to believe that it's my driving style causing these puny numbers. I might be in denial, huh? (For the record, most of my driving is to work & back, combo of city and highway, but I usually travel at off-peak hours, and so don't spend much time in traffic.)
