... well one of them anyway - Lake Michigan. We are headed up from Illinois tomorrow, for 5 days at Covert Beach and Campground located right off of the big lake. Although the Aurora is going WITH us, we won't be riding in her until we get there. She'll be traveling in style front wheels up on one of these, behind the almighty Thor (see my sig). Should be fun! My first towing experience too. More photos and trip reports to come.

I'm back!! I had NO internet access for a full 5 days (okay 4 1/2 but it felt like 5) which probably hasn't happened in a good 9 years or so, and back then the 'net wasn't all that much to miss. It was kind of a nice break in a way, but I've got a lot of forum and e-mail catching up to do. Anyway, back to the trip... it was fabulous, and anyone into beaches or camping in the IL/IN/MI area should definitely plan a trip to Covert Park. The website photos really don't do it justice. The campground is beautiful and well-kept, and the beach & waves are just like the ocean (minus the salt water) and a real experience for folks like us who only see cornfields everywhere at home. The Aurora did great being towed, although it took the driver a little getting used to. I could definitely "feel" the weight of the dolly + car behind the RV when braking or going over bumps (the rocking of the dolly would push on the hitch) but never really had any problems stopping or maneuvering. I mean hey, the motorhome is already 35' long and 17,000 pounds... this just bumped me up to 55' or so and 21,000 pounds. Cake. First night there, perfect sunset: It's a beach!! (My wife and boys enjoying the water that 1st night) I kept an eye on the Aurora while driving the RV - my rearview camera monitor: Aurora hanging out on the dolly with some big rigs, while we were parked for lunch at a truck stop: Took a day trip to South Haven, MI - two storybook piers with lighthouses, and another perfect sunset: Great trip.

Looks like a great time, thanks for sharing the pix with us.
Towing the car, no thanks! I wouldn't even want to drive that motor home. We pulled a little pop-up behind our old 88, down to the smokey's one year, that was enough for me.
btw, welcome back!

Nice trip Scott, nice pictures, I did not know you had kids.
When I saw you at the "Aurora's in Aurora" meet, I thought you all were BF and GF thing. Congrats none the less. Good to see everyone had a good time.
Welcome back.

Thanks all - Javi if you want a break from the city anytime, I'm telling you that is the place to go. Probably only a 2 hour drive for you. Your kids would love it! Lots of folks in Covert had tents and pop-up campers, in fact I felt a little oversized in our big ol' RV. When I saw you at the "Aurora's in Aurora" meet, I thought you all were BF and GF thing. Ha! My wife will get a kick out of that. I guess it's my fault for never officially introducing her to you. Been married 9 1/2 years and the boys are 7 and 3. They were visiting the grandparents (my folks) that weekend of the meet.

I knew you were married, Heather gave me the scoop ;D Even told me about the first time you saw her and how you thought any girl who drives a car like hers must be pretty cool

Sounds like quite an adventure Scott. Those South Haven beaches and piers are truly beautiful (much more like New England than those of So. Cal.). Glad that you and the family had such a nice trip.
