sorry, I modified my post. I was trying to set up general areas of where people were coming from to find a central locale. I originally only posted a couple of members suggestions. I was not trying to suggest that you wanted it in Aurora, only that you were from Aurora (<- ;D I still think that is sooo cool )

ok so the parents have informed me that the farthest north that I can go is peoria where the bloomington corvette show was held. Now springfield has a couple attractions like the abraham lincoln library and ummmm...other cool stuff. So I might be able to convince maybe 30 minutes more north of peoria. So we need to pick a place and date so I can convince the parents what I'll be doing. but north of chicago is absolutely out of the question for me. I feel like im begging for this but I really REALLY want to come to the next meet. So keep your eyes out for peoria or a little closer to the south. From my understanding peoria is also about 2 hours from chicago. And 2 hours from springfield. It's kinda meeting halfway for me so I propose that the meeting be in the peoria area on the weekend of october 18-19. This is my proposal! I can call and find out information on areas of interest and maybe get some parkinglots donated for meeting sights. Let me know!

Looks to me like we can't get things together here, I am still up for it Bloomington/Normal is Scotty's locale but I think he is tied up every weekend thru October. btw, October 18-19 would probably will not be to good for me. Don't know what plans/schedules are yet but, my daughters birthday is the 18th, she will be 23 and the hubby's birthday is the 20th, he will be.....old-as-dirt ;D ok so the parents have informed me that the farthest north that I can go is peoria where the bloomington corvette show was held. Isn't the Bloomington Corvette show in St. Charles? That's North of North Aurora

Peoria is out of the way for almost everyone, even you aura1. Unless we had Peoria members (which I don't think we do), it would make more sense to meet in Bloomington... an hour from Springfield, 1.5 hours or so from both Rockford and the Chicago 'burbs. But longer for Javi because he's got to drive through a lot of traffic to get out of the Chicago area. Since we've only got a few members who are chiming in here, would it make more sense to have a winter hiatus and return to planning a bigger, better Spring/Summer meet next year? I still don't think you can beat Aurora, IL for a location. Both because of the name, and proximity to Chicago (where a lot of members are from) and us downstaters. aura1, maybe in another 6-7 months your folks will have upgraded your mileage allowance. You could even meet me somewhere around Bloomington as you pass by, and we could caravan the rest of the way. It's an easy drive to Aurora, with really no Chicago freeway traffic or any of that mess.

See with bloomington being closer to me than peoria I thought that bloomington would be out of the question for anybody else. Bloomington is fine with me and we can do it the weekend of the 25th if the 18th doesnt work. Well let's decide on a spot and I can tell ya wether or not I can come. Bloomington is fine and maybe in 6-7 months ill be allowed to have a couple hundred miles more!

Sorry Zach, but you missed it. It was last weekend, in Rockford ;D No, just kidding, although it would have been a beautiful weekend for it. I am afraid this isn't going to work out this fall. Unless I head out to Javi's some weekend so he can clean my engine ;D Watch for the new "Aurora's in Aurora Meet 2009" thread after the first of the year. Oldsnut will be reserving a pavilion at a park for our meet in June. If I still have the old beater, I plan on being there hope you will too! rah rah sis-boom-bah
