The original Shelby swap Aurora has been wrecked. My ex wife was riding around Sat. night and was t-boned by a kid hauling ass out of a driveway. Going to go look at her and see if I want to buy it back this weekend. Look for her guts in the for sale section. Possible Shelby L47 swap into a Fiero.

Still waiting on the adjuster to call me. I am going to see the car with him so I can make the call as to buy it back or not. I'm thinking with what I have invested in the motor I'll buy it back if they won't fix it. I can probably fix it myself if it isn't too horrible. I'll keep this thread updated. Oh, and sorry about not being around for a while. The new Aprilia is consuming most of my time these days.

Definitely a big loss! Glad everyone's alright, though. Good luck getting her fixed, I hope it works out!
What kind of aprilia do you have? I'm on the Formula SAE team at KU- we use the Aprilia SX55 in our formula car.

Yes the sheby series engine is a very rare upgrade on the aurora, And one that can only be done if you have relatively deep pockets. Its supposably a very smart upgrade if you want to have the performance edge.

if it was a stock rora it wouldnt be so bad, but once you start enhancing the car it becomes almost like a . ........ i cant explain it. you just cant replace it anymore. and any replacement rora wont cut it.
my wrenches go out to you.

Does that sum it up...to me id be like losing a family member...even if it was stock, Which I've almost encountered these past couple days.

Sorry its taken so long to respond to this. Life has been a little hectic lately. The very first Shelby swap Aurora is dead and gone. Right front control arm was snapped all the way in half, frame bent right behind the A pillar. No saving it whatsoever. Insurance did compensate me for the motor, but not to the tune of full cost. Wound up getting just over 4k for her. A sad ending to a truly one of a kind car. Good news on the horizon however. I am coming into a pretty good deal of money and am thinking of starting another project. Our company is buying a brand new shop truck and is selling me the old '97 F250 HD for $500. The custom bed on the truck is coming with it and is worth a possible 2k. Blue book value on the truck including 1/4 million miles (no joke) in poor condition is almost 4k. I'll be selling the bed and the truck apart from each other as that seems to be the best route for $. So take that, the 4k from the wreck, and income tax return, and we're looking to shape up a pretty wicked project. I'll be on the lookout for a salvage title Aurora and a barebones 4.6L to mod a little. Nothing fancy, just another beast of a grocery getter.

It was a tough call K., but due to life circumstances at the moment I had neither the time nor the resources to buy it back and attempt such a feat.

i understand that man. i got my baby mothers alero back for the towing fee which was less than 200 buxs. stripped it to a shell, than got my money back out of the shell.
i got a broke down alero with the 4 cyl for less than 1000. gutted it powertrain and all. installed the everything from her car. i mean everything, no bolt left unturned. and sold it to my aunt for her daughter for 6k. she drove it for a year, no problems, than sold it to her boyfriends mother for more than she paid. who wrecked it DUI.

My sister drives a 1996 Buick LeSabre Custom. She payed $4600 cash for it Heres the upgrades she has in it. Limo black tint in all back windows, Alpine speakers all around, JVC Stereo, New tires, new ball joints. The car has about 120k miles on it, One day shes driving home, shes at a stop light, all of the sudden a car rear ends her and she bumps the car infront of her. She gets out talks to the people, shes ok.. But the rear of her car is a little nudged in at the bumper. Front is fine except for a crack in the front right fender. We thought SURE we have full coverage and it will be covered. An appraisor comes out and reviews the damage. A week or so later the total came in. $4,800 The car was pronounced totalled. She bought it back for $178 dollars. Oh did I forget to mention she drove the car home that night with nary a peep going down the road. Long story short the frame in the back is a little wrinkeled and the truck is a little corrupted. But it drives like a beaut still.. Oh yes I forgot to mention she got hit again recently from a black women who stole gas from Wesco, backed into my sister and sped off. My sister chased her but she went into the projects.. the women had a sticker on the window.. Like the ones you get when you first buy a car. A few weeks later the police sent us a letter with all the womens info, they caught her. Too bad my sister had to put PLPD on her car after the first accident. We bought some junkyard parts from a 90 something Buick Park Avenue.. all we needed was a front left head light housing and marker light, grill and grill trim. Be warned, cherry cars are accident magnets.
