Yikes! I hope it's being covered by insurance...
Amazing these days how little damage it takes to rack up major $$$

that is quite a bit of money for such little damage, did the air bags go off?

I don't think that being rear ended like that would set off the air bags.

The only way that the airbags would go off in a rear-end collision would be if the car was pushed into something in front of it. The sensors are only located in the front of the car since it would be pointless for the air bags to go off in a rear-end collision.

Then you will be introduced to the steering wheel rather quickly. But surviving from that sort of accident is unlikely with or without airbags

seems dumb to me. a rear end collision doesn't set off the airbags? first thing that happens in that situtation is your head hitting the steering wheel.

but if he drove a volvo the seat backs would of reclined, to reduce whiplash. i believe some benz's do the same thing.

seems dumb to me. a rear end collision doesn't set off the airbags? first thing that happens in that situtation is your head hitting the steering wheel. You would probably have to get hit real hard to come back forward and hit your head on the steering wheel. You might go forward after the initial impact, but if you go that far forward the seat belt should be enough to stop you. The biggest safety feature in a rear end collision is your head rest.

Actually, it throws you back. read on... but if he drove a volvo the seat backs would of reclined, to reduce whiplash. i believe some benz's do the same thing. Mustangs do that too ;D Actually, I think it's called a "broken seat" Don't know if it was meant to or not but when I was rear ended by a '75 monte carlo my bucket seat in the mustang was reclined all the way back! and, my feet were up in the air Man, did she hit me but good, she said she didn't even see me so she wasn't even trying to stop Her radiator was laying down (parallel to the ground) and gas from my tank was running all over the ground. My mother-in-law had my kiddies and came by to make sure I was OK, she told my kiddies (they were about 3 and 5 at the time) that someone tried to run up mommy's tail pipe ;D That car never was the same....wish they would have totaled it *edit* btw, I still got whiplash and when the weather changes both my neck and shoulder ache to this day

I was hit by a mid 90's Chevy conversion van a couple months ago while riding with a friend of mine in an 04 Grand Prix. The guy was estimated going 30-40 and had a heart attack so never hit the brakes. We were sitting at a stop light when we got hit. I was sore for about 10 days.

whoa robaurora01 hope ya don't think i was jumping on you. it seems to me they would go off, then again the seatbelt may be all that's needed. kaykirk, lol of course, i was referring to the car getting rearended. LOL my ex wife found out that you don't want a cigarette in your mouth when the airbag in the steering wheel blows!

My back bumper is cracked on the top part by the trunk lid where some one has hit me there multiple times and probably just wont fix, but not bad as yours.
First of all our Aurora's seatbelts lock in so you dont hit the steering wheel right away and the seats do go forward in a collision to reduce whiplash.
