I was a happy owner of a 95 Aurora until a deer decided to end its life in front of it. Im just at a loss at as what to do with it. I guess it could be fixed but sadly living in Georgia I just dont have access to a place to do it. I know it would need a fender, hood, radiator, door alignment, headlight, and im guess a line broke to the tranny as it lost all the fluid. Sad too because I really had a thing for that car. If I were to sell it would be it be worth anything? I guess im at a loss. Picture: www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=30114970&l=159361df27&id=1423635323

Sorry about the car but glad that you are OK and that's what's important. oh wow. no insurance for something like that? probably not on a car of that age It may be worth more if it has good parts to part-out, heck I need a good working antenna Of course parting it out yourself may be a PITA PITB

what surprises me it looks like its a charcole interior on a black car! very rare for the aurora and many would be envious. I would put full coverage on any car I drive its cheaper in the long run for me as if I ever got in an accident I couldn't afford to buy another and that would help right there

This is a 95 with well over 200K miles on it that he paid $750 for over 2 years ago (I don't know what repairs/upgrades have been made or what they cost or how much value they may have added)....so, what's it worth I'm sorry, not trying to dis the car, I love mine too but just trying to look at it realistically . I wish you the best OK, I'll shut up now

What kay is trying to say, is that even with full coverage the insurance company would total the car and give you a check. The repair costs on a 14yo car with high miles would far exceed the value of it. I'm sorry to say this one looks to be a loss, but if you have anyplace to keep it you probably could get some money for parts from some folks here.

well thats what im saying I would much rather another check to buy me another car then put the money for repairs is what im talking about. I know, I know, it sucks but here's what I am saying. How much extra every month/year will you pay in insurance premiums versus how much would you get for your car should it be totaled? I don't know what the value of this particular car is but I do know he paid $750 2 years ago when the car had over 200K miles. Unfortunatley, it probably doesn't have much value. Let's say it costs him $25 a month more for full coverage insurance for the last 2 years that would equal $600. Say he has a $100 deductible and they said the car was worth $750, he would get a check for $650......$50 more than what he saved in premiums I don't know what his insurance costs but I think the figure I used is pretty conservative especially considering we are talking about a younger driver.

they normally go by blue book regardless of what the owner paid. I pay $119 a month for my insurance full everything and $300 deductable. I would much rather pay that extra a month because I know me I wouldn't be putting it aside properly each month for the "incase it happens"
I am 21 years old this is my first car and my first insurance my insurance rate is that low because I took a drivers ed course.

didn't we all have to take driver's ed rob? lol. i pay about that same amount for mine, $500 deductable, and 2 points on my license. it's pricey, but young drivers with a car like this will pay for it.

didn't we all have to take driver's ed rob? No... Driver's Ed was practically worthless (and probably still is). When I took it (fall 1959) it consisted of 2 things: 1. Learning how to park 2. Being shown films & pics of wrecks, wrecks & more wrecks And 90% of that course was #2!

my drivers ed was much more then that they taught us quite a bit and a lot of stuff I thought I knew but apperently I didn't. I don't lose any points on my lisence for mine I have a no fault thing that if I get in an accident my fault or not it doesn't go on my record nor does it take any points away (not like I really have any to loose in the first place)

Full coverage on older cars tends to be pretty cheap. The 01 Aurora is $350 or so for the collision and comp. My OLD Buick is only about $50. Where you get into trouble is assessing the value of the car - those of us who keep our cars clean and in good shape get shafted by those who trash theirs and bring the average value down. I had them try to give me $1500 for my Astro that had every option except AWD and didn't even have a spot on a seat. If it hadn't hit a tree, it would still be running 10 years from now...

Drivers ed for me was ridiculous. 24 hours of class time before school (from 6:30 AM to 8:00 AM) then 6 days after school of driving in various towns and cities, then 2 segment 2 classes with tests, then after all that gotta bring all 500 of the papers they give you plus other stuff you get when you were born to the secretary of state. Then do your road test.
All together cost about 410 dollars. 325 for Segment I, 35 for segment II, 50 for road test. Then license fees and what-not.

Holy wow Auroranator. That sounds like a lot more drivers ed than I had to take. How long ago did you take it? I had class for an hour or two and then we would drive for a little while. I don't know how much class time I had but I do not think it was 24 hours. I don't remember the class anyway, the only part that I remember was a movie about a girl that hit by a train and they used Supertramp - Take The Long Way Home, throughout it.

I know this is an old post, but beilvie it or not I am going to fix her. It was not as much damage as you would think. I was VERY surprised. Just bent the mounting stuff for the head light. I working on parts to get it on the road as we speak. She has been sitting for a while but last time I checked (about last September) still ran fine So it was mostly cosmetic.

Dang, well actually my taurus looked a lot like that after hitting a buck going about 45mph. The hood was crumpled, had a large dent in my driver's side fender, both headlights smashed (well the passenger one was cracked), and the radiator pushed in. Sorry for the crappy pic:

Hey don't hate on my taurus haha it was a good car, 157K and ran like new plus she even passed Illinois emissions haha, The only problems she gave me was major rust, but I can't complain I got her for cheap too and she lasted me almost 5 years
But now you can also see why I'm so obsessed with my Aurora haha *UPGRADE* lol
