Is the dent by the tails not part of the bumper cover? I believe it is. Maybe I am not looking or seeing the dent you speak of Zach.

maybe its the camera flash, but it looks like a dent right above the bumper cover, by the taillight next to it

I marked two places on the pic i thought you may be talking about it. Anything to left or below is just the bumper cover. I may see what you are talking about if you are talking about the circle I drew on the left that may be a little damage there thats not the bumper cover.

to the left of the big circle, I see a dent, but it might be the color and flash combo

theres definitely a dent there zach. but its attached to the bumper cover, something that seems should come off with the rest of it.

Yes, that is part of the bumper cover. You really should not have too much trouble and is not totalled IMO.

A total loss? What? For that? Get more than one quote for repairs! (And hope for the best)

A total loss? What? For that? Quarter Panels are expensive to replace properly. Probably $1000 job there alone, without paint.

I did not see any damage tp the rear quarter? Just damage to the bumper cover. I must not be seeing what some you are seeing.

I'm not sure if there's quarter damage. Here's a better shot, that I had to lighten up to see it.

The quarter panel is just a bit scuffed. I have looked at it up close, it does not appear to need any repair other than paint touch up. I promise better daytime pix soon!

*The report is in! Finally got it on Friday (Thats almost exactly a MONTH!). I read through a good 15 pages, and guess whats missing? Her insurance info! Great! So now, according to the police, I have to file for Freedom of Information Act rights at the court. that will happen right after work today. I also have the alternative route of filing with my insurance company. Even though I have liability coverage only, If i file a claim they can attempt to look up her information. Daytime pics are still to come, I have been so busy I still havent uploaded them. One interesting piece of info. the report had, her sobriety test results. she failed every field test (heel to toe, finger to thumb, etc) except one, which she barely passed. They administered a PBT (breathalyzer) twice, blew a .23 and .25 respectively! Confirmation blood tests administered at PD probably at least an hour later, also ran twice, gave .20 both times. Scary stuff...

Well it took a hit well... body wise anyways.
The Grim News Unfortunately since it was on stands the front end is totally destroyed. I took it up to belletire today for inspection and suspension estimates. They noticed the cradle is out of alignment/bent. one tire is further back than the other (no wonder she wont stay straight and is chewing up the front left tire). Probably also a bent control arm, along with struts, sway bar links, rear shocks were bad anyways but worse now.
As a rough guess its 4k worth of repairs including the body work (maybe suspension alone). Ill be lucky if the car is valued at half of that in the current condition. Guarenteed Total IMO. Hopefully ill get enough money so i can add my own and get a nicer one. Now that I know what to look for and how to fix many things, I can make a much better decision this time and wont mess so many things up (as i have on this car)

That is bummer news, HOWEVER it's probably better that it be totaled then try to fix extensive suspension damage. Chances are the car would never be "right" and you'd be plagued with future tire wear and alignment issues.

I was thinking the same thing. if the cradle was fine, Im sure new struts, sway bar links and tires would make everything better, maybe even control arm replacement, all of which i can do. I can not do cradle work. Im willing to bet the body may even be damaged where the cradle attaches.
im still waiting for this lady to get home so i can get her insurance info finally

As somebody that has a donor cradle under his, the cradle is NOT that big a deal. They just unbolted one and subbed in the donor. It's the frame straightening that you have to do to get the mounting points back in the right location. Control Arms, all that stuff is pretty easy and very doable by a good home mechanic. My body man said mine was easy - only 4 hours on the rack to get it back in place. He worked on a Prius the same week - he had upwards of 40 hours of rack time on it - car got T-Boned and they still fixed it.
My son bounced mine off a bridge abutment and the body cage was barely bent. She must have whalloped your car pretty good to have done all that damage.

i will take it up to a body shop for a true assesment of the damage. im still betting on a total unfortunately... and like scotty said even if not then it will never be right. so it sucks either way
at least I finally got her insurance info finally. I have chased all the agencies down (police, courts, state, and my insurance co.) all have pointed fingers at each other. finally my insurance co told me to ask her myself, otherwise if she refused, they could look it up but it would take a while and be a pain for both of us and incur charges that i would have to charge to her through court (more pain).
so i went down the street (turns out she lives close) and asked her. Surprisingly enough she had no problem giving me the info- was actually pretty nice about it. she didnt recognize me tho. I asked her if she remembered me and she said no. wow. Of course i sparked some memories when i said "well about a month ago... car accident..."
She has Progressive. Well we will see just how "progressive" they are.

UPDATE: Progressive states that my car is worth $570 and change. what a bunch of bull. I cant replace the car for that much. Its not like I can argue with them either, considering the shape of the car. they offered to let me keep it for a $50 deduction, which I chose for. I dont feel like fighting with them anymore. As long as I can fix the suspension (hoping a new strut and control arm will make things better) with that money, then I will keep the car. otherwise, I will junk it and hopefully salvage another couple hundred and I will go for an alero from there.
It is currently at a collision shop awaiting an estimate on the suspension damage. More to come...

Chris, You can argue with them - very specifically, their job is to compensate you for your loss. They must provide enough to get you equivalent to what you lost. Go price equivalent cars, average them, and send in your counteroffer. Bet you can get at least $2000 out of them. That's pocket change to them and they will close it and run...

You dont need to accept their price. Find them as many examples of same or similat cars. Give them classifieds, ebay or whatever as proof. You need to provide the proof you can not replace the car for that amount.
Last time i had a car to settle on i got way more than they offered. It is their job to low ball you and 90% of the people dont push back.

its probably too late. I already said yeah go ahead. I get to keep the car, and for 500 i can get a nice clean non running parts car. i can change everything out from it (interior, body, even some mechanical parts, etc) sell some more parts here from it, and then junk it for 200 at least. or i can fix the suspension damage for under 100, get an alignment (60 bucks and change) and keep driving it while i save up for another. i really just dont want to deal with it anymore
