Hi everyone, I'm new on this forum, but I'm a huge Oldsmobile fan. Long story short, I know this local guy in Connecticut who restores and buys and sells many high end cars. A few weeks back, I had gotten word that he had gotten some of GM's cars from Barrett Jackson. Wondering if he had gotten any of the OSV cars or any of the other Oldsmobiles, I stopped up at his shop, and this is what I saw: It's the 95 Glass Top Aurora. The owner was nice enough to let me get around 40 pictures, and since he said he didn't mind if I shared them, I thought here would be the perfect place to do so. Just a little information on this Aurora, the owner was telling me how GM spent over $1 million dollars just to make the top safe so that if it ever flipped over, the glass won't shatter, and the driver will be safe. The glass also changes colors in different lights. The car is this gorgeous color that sometimes looks like a liquid silver, and other times looks like that medium green gray. It only has 56 miles, it has custom ice blue gauges, and big brakes with Oldsmobile stamped on the calipers. And just one more thing... factory navigation!!! Here's a link to more pictures of it: picasaweb.google.com/RZBOLDSrules/1995OldsmobileAuroraGlassRoofPrototype#(Choose the slide show option and you'll get larger, higher quality pictures). I also have other Oldsmobile show car pictures in there if anyone's interested. The owner also said that the car is for sale (preferably to a museum or someone who will keep this car preserved as-is) for $100k. Special thanks to the owner: Classic Car Restoration Parts of CT

Welcome to the ACNA, I took a look at your other albums. I liked the secret garage collection and the 442 albums! I really like the front end treatment. It wonder if there is any way we could find that bumper cover?

Welcome. I love that color. Went thru some of the other galleries. A lot of sharp looking cars, especially the early '70s Cutlass.

Amazing! But ya...$100K...heh.
The Guidestar system is pretty neat, did you happen to see the controls in the centre console?

It wonder if there is any way we could find that bumper cover? I have asked the same question before, and the answer is no. Ive even done google searches, called around to custom body areas, the only thing they tell me is to bring a detailed photo in of the bumper that I am wanting and they will try to customize my curent one to as close a match as possible.

Thanks guys!!!
I didn't get a chance to look in the center console at any of the controls, but looking at the navigation, I think it somehow fliped open and possibly held a cd player/changer behind the face plate, but I didn't sit in it while it was started, and the navigation was turned off, so that's as far as I got there.
As for my albums, many people don't know about too many of those Oldsmobile show cars since many of them got sent to the crusher, but with a lot of help from Rob Eye (aka IRONDOGG442) and much google image searching, I found some pictures. I also made them all listed so now at least if someone wants a picture of them, they'll be able to find one.

I have to say aside from the glass roof, the second gen like front bumper cover is my favorite detail. If I had the time and money, or just the money I would definately have that on my Classic!

On topic, this is one phenomenal piece o0f engineering. What a beauty. I agree also, that front air dam is impressive. Do all Classics say Aurora underneath the license plate area? We are required to have front plates in Iowa, but I've been considering just taking mine off and running without it and see if I get in any trouble. I can always say it fell off and get away on the first time. ;D

The owner also said that the car is for sale (preferably to a museum or someone who will keep this car preserved as-is) for $100k. The stipulation on purchase makes me a bit sad. I understand fully that this car is a rare gem indeed.... but it just seems a shame to turn her over to a museum.

Just looked a little closer at the pics and noticed that she comes with a Scrap title....doesn't that mean the car isn't up to safety standards or something like that?

no, not at all. I don't know if you had read anything or seen Barrett Jackson when GM was auctioning off all of their show cars, but they don't want any liability at all to any of the cars that had modifications done to them (basically all of their show cars), so they sell them with just a bill of sale. So unfortunately, any one off the street wouldn't be able to register this (legally) or drive it unless they're a dealer.
