Hey Guys, about two weeks ago i bought my 1997 Aurora and drove it home and it was great i was so happy to finally own this car after seeing it and bidding for it. Well that following monday i got u early and went to get the car registered and covered on the insurance so i could get ready to do what i had planned for this bad boy. so when i got home and put the plates on i started the car and there was an little explosion followed by a cloud of white smoke and the sweet smell of fuel. so now im thinking i just spent 3 grand on a car and got it insured and registered for it to start having problems the same day before i even got to drive it. F.Y.I white smoke usually means headgasket and in these engines its about 1800 dollars to repair. So after a couple of weeks of headaches i found out even more bad news from a carfax report that the car had been rolled back on the odometer. so that was no good. after getting a opinion from a close friend who is a mechanic turns out it wasnt a headgasket. it was a bad fuel injector, spark plugs on the back side of the engine and the coolant fans were not turning on so instead of 1800 im looking at 325 and after the long wait i finally get to pick my baby up tomorrow. img174.imageshack.us/img174/1146/76605806.jpg

We know all about the headgasket problem, you don't need to instruct us! ;D There has been many a headache on ACNA because of a headgasket issue. It's good to hear that you only have to replace an injector and a few plugs! Don't you love it when things turn out better than you think they will?

you should sue whoever rolled back the odometer And report that to the authorities.......it could be a crime. See www.odometertampering.com/

i know this post is rather old. but today was the official day that i got to drive my car for the first time since i bought it and drove it home. practically a brand new engine and this thing can haul. i love the feel of the car just so smooth. very fuel efficient for a v8 also but thats prolly since its freshly tuned. this has to be one of the best cars i have ever driven

Glad to hear that! I am glad the problem wasn't serious. I have talked to a lot of Aurora owners that say that it is the best car they have ever owned. Can you post some pics in the showroom inside and out? In your sig it says you have Black and Blue. I would love to see that color combo. I couldn't get your imageshack link to work.
