My 96 is at the dealership right now being checked out for a problem with my TC. Whenever the car is in motion (in any gear) the traction is constantly active. I'll post up when I find out what the problem is. No SES light, but I hope its only a sensor

GM may not be making Oldsmobiles any more - but they're sure as hell making a lot of money from the parts. My car's in the dealers tomorrow to fix the air conditioning - $1300 plus tax. At least it's safe to drive - watcha gonna do Jim ? - you'll have to get the bike out after all.

Well heres the scoop. The part has been cancelled for it is safe to drive as long as the TC is turn off. And I make a habit of turning the TC off anyway. So, I will be scouring the used markets to find a used ETCBM (Electronic Traction Control Brake module). And really, who needs TC in the spring/summer/fall anyway So I will be going to Syracuse to get my work done, I may bring the tires and rims back in the trunk (mounted) but not installed and get that done when I find a module for cheap. Bad news about yer AC there Howard...$1300 clams is a hit, knock on wood, my AC is ok

Update Drove to Syracuse, no issues with the car operating with TC off. Then accidentally driving around SY, I noticed I forgot to deactivate TC and everything was fine and dandy. Oh well...wonky is as wonky does. BTW the rims are on! errr mounted anyway...

Everyone wants pics No worries, now I simply have to deal with uber hot chrome rims, but no worries, brake cooling to be designed, those cross drilled rotors get hot. Oh and drove again without the TC...still no problems. Good thing I cancelled the module.

I really wish I could figure out my traction issue, I am ready to just go buy 2 new wheel speed sensors and replace both sides!

Amanda, The ABS and traction control are linked together, you can scan them through the OBD II system and it will spell out which area is defect left or right and front and back. It most likely is a speed sensor and they are expensive. Have you checked all fuses including the ones under the rear seat? Sidney

My OBD II scanner won't work because mine is a year too old it's a 95...

The 1995 should be OBD I and requires another type of scanner.

talking about traction control, i have a question about it. i know when you push the traction control button the little light comes on and says traction OFF. What is the best way to drive the vehicle all the time? with the TC off and the annoying light on, or leave the traction control off? when should you have it or on off?

Most cars by default have the TC on, its a safety thing. However the bypass button on the console is the only way to turn it off. The ABS/TC and braking sysetem in general is quite advanced technology, however I suppose pulling a fuse works too I am NOT a fuse puller, I want things to work as they were originally intended.
