Today me and my beautiful '95 Aurora were in an accident. It was my fault....I was hit in the rear drivers side. Smashed in my rear door, smashed the 1/4 panel, bumper got ripped off, and the hub and sway bar are totally done for. I only had Liability insurance, and even if I had coverage on my car I have no doubt in my mind that my insurance company would have totaled it. I've only had this car for 3 months and this is my first wreck ever....Maybe I will eventually part it out. everything on the car other than the area hit is in good condition. I will post some pics soon.... (smiley faces arent enough to express the depression I feel right now...)

I am all right, despite being thrown into a spiral before slamming into a snow bank. I'm always shaken, never stirred. However, I found an Aurora on eBay for $480 that I may purchase for parts or just do a Engine/Tranny/PCM swap since my Aurora is the Autobahn package. Here are a few pics I took with my phone:

Well that doesn't look GREAT but it doesn't look horrible either... glad to hear you are ok! Yeah, it could have been a lot worse. The '04 Malibu Maxx was in worse shape. But the suspension is going to be a bit of work if I decide to buy a parts Aurora.

Man that sucks. My Aurora got hit in my driveway while it was on jack stands and it destroyed the front suspension. I know the feeling...
Check for frame damage. If you did not damage the frame at all, I suggest trying to fix it. Rear suspensions aren't as tricky as fronts. you should be able to bolt replacement parts right on if the frame is good. same with body panels. Fresh coat of paint and a wheel alignment and you are good as new. Consider the overall costs of that vs getting a different car though. All the best!

I would love to get it fixed. Unfortunately, it would cost me an arm and a leg to repair. The door jamb is smashed in and I was told by a body man to just forget about it. I was also told, that in order to fix the rear suspension, the fuel tank needs to be dropped which also involves removing the exhaust. So, there is so much labor added into it. What I really want to do is find another Aurora for under $1,000 that has a bad engine or minor body damage and use mine as a parts car and put my engine/trans/PCM in the new one. I will be calling the local VoTech and asking them about possibly using my car for the students to work on. They only charge for parts since it's for educational purposes and the students don't get paid anyway. Just an idea.

That sounds like a good idea, except students wont have the experience necessary to do an engine swap on these IMO.

That sounds like a good idea, except students wont have the experience necessary to do an engine swap on these IMO. The drivetrain on these cars are not that different from many (most?) late 90's GM cars. As long as one has the equipment, which is mainly a lift and BASIC tools, you can do anything you need to an Aurora. The water pump tool is about the most exotic thing you'll need mechanically, besides a lift and cradle dolly. Besides, how else are the students supposed to learn the things they haven't experienced? In fact, we should ALL take our Aurora's there and create a good training ground for the next generation we'll hope can keep our classics alive!
