Aurora40,

There is one too many colors listed for the 2003 Model year for the Aurora. Polo Green was not offered for the 2003 Model year.

I have the original 2003 sales brochure as well as a big dealership-only 3-ring binder sales book that contains all the information and brochure-type data on all the Oldsmobile vehicles built for the 2003 model year. It even includes samples of real cloth and leather from the seats of each vehicle. The book was given to me by the salesman at the Oldsmobile dealer that I bought my car from after they stopped selling Oldsmobiles. I have many more unique Oldsmobile brochures and memorabilia that only the dealers had access to and was not distributed to the general public that he gave me.

I checked my books and Polo Green was not offered for 2003. Too bad though, because it is a beautiful color. I have seen it on an Aurora only one time and thought that it was a stunning color. The metallic flakes in the paint made the color look jewel-like. It did not seem to have been a color the dealers ordered many Auroras in.

Just wanted you to know so that you could adjust your chart of colors.

Hey Skex,

I hear what you are saying. That data came from GM documents at the time though. GM has a site that is for dealer ordering that is publicly accessible. The problem is they don't keep data up past about 2 model years. So I don't want to change the data I took from there, as it was what GM said was available.

It's possible that Polo Green was only available early in the model year, perhaps to use up quantity of paint, and that the sales documents did not list it as a color. It is not uncommon for color changes to happen during the model year, or even for equipment to become available or unavailable.

However, now it's noted that the PG color was not in the sales brochures or dealer sales binders. I don't know if any '03 PG's were ever made, I was just archiving the data GM had at the time.

I was looking at the tag on the bottom of the spare tire cover to check options, etc... I can't seem to find the code for exterior color. The only code that begins with a number and ends in U is 78U. The car is white. There is a U40 (and a U80) not not 40U nor 98U.

I saw in the 2001 Aurora Brochure a listing for "Arctic White". Could this be 78U?

Hmm, that is a very interesting discovery. Looking at the 2001 brochure, it shows no Ivory White color, and Diamond White is a different code:

this is a good site for paint codes!
you'll see from year to year, some paint names changed, but the WA codes stayed the same and vice versa.

one interesting note it the change's from 1999 to 2001

Yeah, there are obvious flakes in the paint, PLUS...

looking at the site tipsy posted, if I flip back and look at year 2000 paint codes instead of 2001, I can find the codes on my tag

78U and also U140B which both are for White Diamond Metallic according to that site.

Olds must have changed paint codes in the middle of the 2001 production run, I guess.

I don't recall if when I looked the 2001 info was already removed, or if they never had 2001 info up there. But I am 90% sure I based the 2001 info on the 2002 guide. There is a "New for 2002" section that listed the deleted colors (which must have been colors in 2001), and the new colors (which wouldn't have been colors in 2001). Possibly white diamond changed codes but wasn't mentioned.

I also looked through my files, and found I do have the ordering guide for 2003 saved (was trying to find the '02 one). And Skexius is correct, Polo Green was deleted for 2003. My apologies Skex.

I will edit the initial post to reflect that, and will update the colors and color codes for 2001 based on the brochure and also on your actual cars SPI label.

I will see if I can post the '03 guide. It's all saved pages with no real index/etc so we'll see.

Hmm, if it's for all of 2001 then the automotivetouchup.com site is wrong, as well (unless they're going on production year instead of model year??).

I was looking more closely at the 2001 Aurora Brochure and noticed a couple of other differences, as well. There is no 18U Silvered Sage listed and there's, also, not a 42U Chesnut. There is a 44U Cherry, however.

Thanks for acknowledging my update that I submitted to you. You are not going to like this, but as I reread the options list again, I found another correction that needs to make to the options list.

You left out that Cappuccino was an available exterior color for the Aurora for the 2003 Model Year. You need to add this color to the color grid also.

I verified this via all my personal collection of data on the 2003 Aurora that I have, which includes the original sales brochure and the Exterior/Interior color and trim chart from the GM Online Order Guide website above that I printed back in 2003. I am sure that you would agree that we want to make sure we have accurate information available for anyone on the forums that needs it.

I do not believe that's correct.

U1F is the radio/sound system code for Bose. U80 is included in U1F and is specifically the Sound system feature, Bose speaker and amplifier system

U1Q is the base radio, which is not listed as this is just a list of optional equipment. U1Q includes UW6 Sound system feature, 6-speakers

But let me know what your Service Parts Identification sticker says in relation to what audio option you have, if you think it doesn't match.

Ugh, sorry about that, I am adding confusion through typos. I typed that U1S is the base radio, I meant to type U1Q is the base. I will edit that post so that future readers won't be confused. U1S is the 12-disc changer, and is listed as such in the first post.

U1Q is the 6-speaker base radio
U1F is the 8-speaker Bose radio
U80 is simply the RPO for the speakers

Are you saying your car has U1S and U80 listed, but not U1F? Maybe if you get the 12-disc, U1F is not on there. Though the ordering guide shows U1S as the changer, not the actual head unit.
