I realllyyyyyy want to go. But... 514 miles.. 9 hour drive... hmm. I'm assuming it's about $40 to fill up a tank (Remember, I don't have my Roorah yet! I'm still a newbie to the forums ) and, assuming 23mpg in a 20 gal tank, that's 460 miles per tank! yikes. I'd need to fill up quite a bit. Plus food, the strip, etc. Time to start saving/contemplating..

well if your making this trip i think your can surely pull off 25 or better if you use your cruise, premium fuel and proper air pressure in tires. these cars cheat the air but 450 miles on a full tank of gas, right up to the cap mind you... could cost $45 - $50 depending on where you stop and stuff. i drove straight to the Gulf of Mexico a few months ago it was a good 750 miles each way and the car did very well around 26 avg mpg fully loaded with 3 adults, a 13 yro old, 2 lap dogs, books, suitcases, etc. i was loaded! i helped and old friend move some stuff up here. it was a blast. but on the way down i was just full of gas and saw 30 mpg a lot on the DIC but averaged like 28

after trying to get through for a few weeks now...i was finally able to leave a message at rogersville raceway park this morning, to call me back on running time and costs for friday evening 10/01/10. inquired of them to call me back and leave me a message. however if it's gonna be anything like this coming friday or last friday was, it sounds like $15.00 to race & gates open at 5 pm or 6 pm.
also called the aurora chamber of commerce too. they never got my pre app mailed out but cost of show is $15.00 on advance or $20 at the door. (no real door of course) lol.

Sorry I have been absent gents. Laptop cords come in handy when your battery only lasts an hour. (Thanks collins btw) I expect to be in springfield by 5pm 6pm at the latest. I have a late lunch with a close friend that moved to southern IL. And from there I will be heading out!

I like it, Lance. Here is my version of the itinerary: Friday: I have class until Noon so I won't be able to actually be on the road until 1 or so. I'm supposed to work until 5 but I'll probably be able to get out of that just that week and move my hours around a bit. Assuming I can leave at 1 I'll get there around 4:30. If not then I'll leave right after work and get there at 9:30-10:00ish but I'll miss the strip which wouldn't be the end of the world. For the strip: Leaving at 5 may be a little ambitious but we should try to get there early for sure; I'd like to have more than 3 or 4 runs this time. I'll bring my tent just in case. It's a 12 person tent, it'll be more than large enough for all of us. I talked to Randy a couple days ago though and he said that we can probably sleep inside. He has a couch and a bunch of floor space. I'll bring a mattress and I believe Zach has a couple that he is bringing so we'll be alright; just bring a sleeping bag. Sitting around the campfire was a lot of fun last year. Maybe Zach won't lose the fight with gravity again? I'll bring my acoustic guitar in case Jayson can't show up but if he does I'm leaving it to the pros. I only have a couple songs under my belt. Zach and I have food covered. Saturday: Wake up at the CRACK OF DAWN (someone is going to have to get me up... I sleep like the dead ;D) and clean cars, prepare for the show, etc. I loved the car show last year. It was a blast. I agree a video camera is a must. Taking pictures along the way was the best part of the entire trip. Driving down route 66 was amazing; I can't wait for this part. We'll have to spend a lot more time out there just hanging out. I still think we could get some sweet videos of us taking a couple pulls down that stretch of highway. We were there over an hour and like two cars went by. I'd like to work on my horn problems and Randy said he would help me pull the airbag. If we could do some of this on Saturday after the car show that would be sweet. I have a couple other housekeeping things to do (including fixing my clean key message) but we'll see what we get to. I'm sure I'm not the only one with problems and we all want time with one of our resident Aurora gurus. ;D Sunday We'll have some time to work on cars here too like Lance said. If we don't have to break down tents that will help. I'm probably going to head out around 1pm so that I can get home at a decent hour. Maybe a little bit before. It's less that two weeks away! I'm excited. This will be my third time to Springfield, MO. It's gotten better every time. Let's keep it up!

Zach's fight with gravity is a never ending battle. But I will beat it this year. As for the track, I will run the ole girl. I will be leaving IL around 11 A.M. If Mapquest is right that will put me there around 4PM, 5PM latest. As collins mentioned, him and I have food under control. (Hope y'all like spam.) I do have a few things I would like to get sorted out with the chrysler, including a speaker screen that refuses to stay on, A foglight that likes to "hang" around, and how to get paint off the darn seats. BRING WRENCHES!

This sounds like a bunch of fun, I'm not 100% on if I'll be making runs on the strip or not but we shall see. I would also like to see if Randy can help me clear my cat as he did for Lance, as of right now I believe thats whats making that rattling under my car.

That sounds about right. Clearing it will help. And I'll bring my tools, don't worry!
