I'm glad you & everyone else lived through that. And that also shows how strongly the Aurora is built. Behind the windshield, there was no damage, except for the doors being pulled off with what I guess is the Jaws of Life.

yea i'm surprised at how well it took it the interior only got shifted, i think the only reason my arm got broke is cause i had it out the window resting on the roof, and yea the drivers door would only crack open and my arm was hurting so bad + it don't help i'm 6'7 and not a skinny guy lol that's why they cut the doors off.. i'm gonna miss my aurora

I am so sorry about the arm and the car. Looking at the car....things could have been alot worse. I don't want to know how fast the 17 year old kid was going to cause that kind of damage.

i think i'm the 1 in trouble cause i had the yield not him i ended up with 2 tickets 1 for not yielding and 1 for no insurance not sure what happened with the other guy i know he refused the ambulance so i guess him and his buddy didn't get hurt, i don't get how going from 55 to 20-25 is not yielding

I'm really sorry for your loss, my man. Also, sorry about the arm, that would definitely suck. Good thing you weren't driving anything that's built less solidly, there's a good chance someone would be dead.
As far as the yield/stop scenario, unfortunately you are definitely at fault. While it's really stupid that they set any intersection up like that, I think it's safe to say that in almost all scenarios, yield means STOP.
I have an intersection pretty similar right on the end of my block and I always stop there, because I KNOW that the other way doesn't have a yield or stop sign, so I don't risk it. But, I do agree, they should just put stop signs in there. Yield signs are nearly useless.
Again, sorry for your luck, hope everything turns out in your favor.

Man, your Aurora got owned! I'm sorry, Mark. Your car was definitely one of a kind. It will be missed. At least everyone made it out alright. Its good that you were in an Aurora though... as far as safety goes there aren't a lot out there that can beat our cars.

That sucks man! Echoing the previous posters, at least you and the young ones got out without serious injuries. A good car to be in, thats for sure. You definitely had the "night rider"!
So, the dirt road drivers just haul a&& across the highway with their fingers crossed? Even if they have the right away that seems like roulette to me.

yup its like a gamble when you cross that road so i've decided from niw on once i get better and have a new ride i'm no longer traveling down that road in the summer time, they seem to always plant corn and a accident or 2 happen almost every year, i actually think everyone in the neibor hood is sick of this corner so i might start a petition to have it changed to a 4 way stop and make the farmers cut the corners
i just noticed i put 09 in the title lmao
i go for surgery on friday so hopefully after that i can get off these pain pills and try to find a new ride but i only got $400 for my aurora + my rims i can make maybe $200 off them there not damaged

sounds like there should be a 4 way.... i know back in ohio if the farmers plant corn less then 10ft from the road they must corner cut their fields. You should look into seeing if thats a law in michigan. I grew up in the Toledo ohio/monroe mi area so i know how they can be with the planting right up the road..

Damn, I just saw this now. Good to hear your in relative good shape, other then the arm. The house, then this....Hopefully this is the last thing you have to put up with for awhile. Hang in there bud!
I'll keep an eye out on Aurora's for you out this way. I know a dealership in Lansing had a 2nd gen with 118K on it for about $3400......Think it's gone though!

Man, really sorry about everything. But a broken arm is a story to tell at least, and of course it's a blessing nobody was hurt worse. What's the deal with $400 for the Aurora? That seems like a real lowball settlement. Did you actually have insurance and just not have the card on you? Or is the $400 all that a junkyard gave you for scrap value?
