SO i have had a few days of and have been pretty bored.. I got a call today from a friend up near Chicago that has been watching out for a G8 for me (he works with a dealer) and told me he had one that I should come look at... I get there and see this in the parking lot.... OMG! WOW, what a car. He tossed me the keys and said lets go back to the test track! WHAT? lol I got in a started driving it and was just amazed by the sound. I wasnt going real fast cause I didnt want to get in trouble lol and he says floor it.. I put the peddle to the floor and took off and i looked down and we were already up to 135!!! i let off the gas and we both jerked forward lol. That thing has SOOOO much power! Absolutely the best car I have driven yet (even better then the Vette i drove). I now know that my next car IS going to be a G8. No doubt about it.

I know its blasphemy but did they say what they would offer you as a trade for the Aurora? It might be worth it to send both in.

I have always had eyes for the G8. It's ashame the platform is being retired to only police use vehicles. I'm not sure which I would have over another. The G8 GXP or the Hyundai Genesis 4.6. The Genesis is obviously slower, but reallllyyy nice. Cheaper insurance to. Maybe one of these days.

Thought about trading both the aurora and the taurus i have stashed in the garage for it but then i wouldnt have a DD.... if i were to get a firehawk G8 that thing would sure be a garage queen and babied, not driven to work everyday, 90 miles a day round trip lol.

Don't hate on the Jap Crap! The sonata is a top notch car too. But you wouldn't catch me dead in any hyundai but a gensis.

I love the G8 so much, a direct shot at BMW from the heartbeat of America! My brother is actually gonna buy the GXP as soon as his insurance settlement comes in. Now that car has something like 420 horses right? and RWD with a 6 SPEED STICK! OMG what a combo! I am so jealous of you ;D

BTW, Hyundai is Korean I was in Korea in June, and wasn't happy about even riding in them, but in Korea you really don't have much choice, they buy what they build.

Zach- i have looked at the genesis before and i dont think i would even want one of those. lol, and i do hate on the Jap/Asian cars, I use to have a 2001 Toyota Supra (till i blew the tranny) and that was about the only Jap/Asian car i would and have ever drove..
northofyou- i love that it looks like a more sporty BMW, and love then wide flared front fenders. Just an awesome car all around.
I ended up not getting this car, but i will have one in the first couple months of next year for sure. (saving up for a better down payment to go along with the ford on trade in)...

That is a pretty fair offer actually, same amount I sold mine for in the summer of '09. that car is just going to go up in value... Uhhhh... no. Never happens. The longer you wait, the more the G8's out there will depreciate. And honestly, don't even think about going into debt for something that will be a garage queen. What's the point? If you have a car you can afford that's fun to drive, DRIVE IT! Don't be in a rush to get rid of the Aurora either, if it's still running strong. Used cars that you own outright are the best value out there.

These G8s along with the GTOs are going to hold value and only go up with time if kept in great condition. Everyone Ive talked to (NOT the dealers lol) like mechanics, car collectors people at car shows etc have all said the same. The Firehawk edition even more so, there is only 250 made to begin with so they are rare. I might be wrong, who knows but I do know I want one.

Red being the biggest ordered out of the 250 made.

what's up with the stripes on the hood? airbrushing? too bad the scoops aren't functional, just like every other car in the past decade. i believe they can be easily modified however to work from what i've seen online. they are fast, i'm kinda partial to the GTO though, even if it's Aussie. same transmission and block, maybe identical engine? i like everything but the wheels, they remind me of cheap Beamer hub caps. still 5 stars... black out the silver, get black rims & red rotors, hook it up!

Yea it had a after market professional paint job. Silver racing stripes with airbrushed flames. also had some paint work done on the bottom of the doors going down the side. I wasnt a fan of the flames but liked the silver racing stripes. I didnt get the car but I'll have one within 6 months..

IDK im still going to have to disagree lol. These G8s along with the GTOs are going to hold value and only go up with time if kept in great condition ... there is only 250 made to begin with so they are rare. Rare does not automatically = collectible. All of the Final 500 models are pretty rare, but they have tanked in value just like any used car... just a little slower. At most I'll say that the G8 Firehawk's may retain their value over time, i.e. if they cost $30,000 new then they may still be worth around $30,000 in 30 years because of their rarity. But the average new car will probably cost $100,000 by then, so gotta keep that in perspective. My classic Pontiac follows that line of "collectibleness" tho, its new price in 1969 was $4900 and classic car guides value it at about that same amount today. As far as I'm concerned, it's irreplaceable so I never plan on selling it. Even if G8's do end up collectible eventually (which I can see on some level), I'm sure this modern car market will force the value down some more first. So you should be fine to wait a couple more years. The G8 (not to mention Firehawk edition) is an awesome display of 4-door style and power, nobody can disagree with that!!!!

They are nice cars I have driven a few but pretty dated looking inside so its no wonder why they didnt catch on and GM killed the car off. GM has no other current rear drive affordable platform so has to go with it for a while. The radio in my mazda 3 sounds better than the premium option radio in the G8 and cmon no dual climate control or nav? The car just reached the USA way too late to compete with whats around now. My STS-V was way more advanced and we see how well that car did so high HP v8 is not always the answer. With the new 300c and charger on the way with car just cant compete.
Curious to see how well it holds up to police work but heck if a ford taurus can do it lol

actually the impy SS is FWD. and I didn't like the interior of the G8 myself either I found it too clustered together and the buttons hard to find for the radio ( and I like to consider myself a technology kind of guy and I got flustered with the buttons all mixed together )
