My front passenger door has undergone some damage after i am guessing someone backed into my door. Not, sure because it was a hit and run situation, where I came out of the mall and I was surprised with these nice dents and no one around. Anyways, the dents start from just a little above the door handle and venture down to the lower skin/rocker panel area. I am wondering if I should get a used door or try and get the damage fixed? I have recieved one quote so far for $700, but, i am not sure if that is too high? Also, I might add that their is no damage to the interior of the door or the frame of the door and also, my window and lock works fine; it is just on the lower skin area that is damaged; which is causing the door to become misaligned with the bottom section of the door causing the door to not close properly or line up with the back rear door. I have attached pics, please take a look and tell me what you guys think are my best and most affordable options. Thanks in advance. PICS: yfrog.com/04sdc10286tjyfrog.com/nbsdc10287j

personally, I would go with a used door. the dents don't look horrible, could be fixed, but to me a replacement is a better alternative. I looked on Ebay, doors are anywhere from 100/500, your problem will be finding one close, shipping would be cost prohibitive

i could be wrong but i dont think so.. but the would be faster and easyer to just replace the door.. im sure the body shop was thinking that also.. as for the cost it seems about right.. dont know where your at but i can get a door here for around $100

That sucks dudette! Check the local bone yards? (wrecking yards) Not sure where you're at but, some areas of the country Aurora's are numerous and starting to fill the yards. Good luck!

yes, if you took it to a body shop they would skin an used door to fix that. thats a lot to work on.. painting will cost you more then the door will unless you find one thats your same color...

My body shop is NOT cheap.....spent $400+ to fix a bad door ding right under the mirror on the passenger side. It was right up there with one of the worst I have ever seen, but no way close to your scrape.

I agree on the painting comment, will probably cost you more than the door. One thing to consider, any local vocational schools in your area? I had a friend who took auto painting at a local Community college, the instructors are usually local paint/body guys, and the work usually turns out pretty good. Professional shops rates run in the $75/$100/hr range, doesn't take long for cost to add up. Just a thought.

car-part.com/remember that any door from 95 - 99 will work. there's a "perfect" black door on page 33 for $69.95 (front passenger) there's also a plethora of doors on there from as low as $25.00 plus shipping.

thanks, everyone again for all your comments and guidance. i ended up getting a used door from the auto wreckers which I was lucky enough to find the same color as my car.

finding one the same color was lucky, even if the fade is different, color match will probably still be better than a freshly painted one

Thats why at every parking lot I always park like 6-10 spots away from the nearest car, I swear people probably think i'm crazy parking my 97 aurora like its a brand new corvette lol. But better safe then sorry is why I do it though, good luck with the repairs; I know some cars you can get door skins (but it's a biatch getting the old one off and the new one old correctly) rather then a COMPLETE door.
