Tomorrow is the beginning of a really long adventure for me and the Aurora. 1700 miles (2704km) round trip. I leave Edmonton tomorrow at 7:30am. I hope to be in Chilliwack to party it up with Northofyou by 9pm PT. However a blizzard has just moved into the Edmonton area making the highways a gong show for tomorrow. On the 28th we will depart Chilliwack to Horseshoe Bay (located in North Vancouver, relatively close to Whistler) 2 Hour ferry ride to the town of Nanaimo and then a 75mile drive to the town of Comox. I will be in Comox from the 28th to approximately the 10th. Snowboarding is the main agenda, with a New Years party in the mix! I plan to snowboard Mt Washington. They get on average; 8" of snow every day. I am actually concerned for the well-being of the aurora once we arrive in Comox. I have checked the tire pressure. Coolant Level, Transmission Fluid and Level, Engine Oil Level, Windshield Washer fluid level, Power Steering Fluid Level, Brake Fluid Level, Air Filter and Cabin filter usefulness. I have a backup set of high and low beams, installed brand new windshield washer blades. I cannot possibly think of anything else I can do to be more prepared! *knock on wood* Wish me luck! and check back here for pictures in the near future!

Well, I made it to Chilliwack! The first 650 miles are completed. The roads weren't nearly as bad as once thought. We are meeting northofyou at lunch time. After that we are off to Comox I'll have the good camera out for this portion of the drive! Off to Vancouver!!!

They do look good together! So yours is on the left, right? Thanks! Yes, my car is in the middle. It's been a great week, there hasn't been any new snow so we have been hanging out, enjoying the warm weather and the beautiful women. We drove 150 miles south to Victoria for New Years Eve. We have no internet here and I haven't been on my computer since we got here, so no new pics yet. Everything is going great with the car. She has burnt a little oil but not too bad. I have been monitoring all the levels like a hawk! I do expect to be replacing brake pads shortly after the trip. As well as some wheel sensors. The stability system says to service, but driving on icy roads has proven it is still 100% functioning. It doesn't alert for approx 15 mins after shifting into drive every time. I hope you all enjoyed New Years!

Weird about the stability system... I wonder what the problem could be?
I'm glad you had a good trip! I'll be sitting right here at my computer awaiting the pictures. ;D

Made it home! Not without problems though!!! I have 2 major issues that have popped up in the last 50miles of the trip. When the brakes are used it sounds like metal on metal action - I can only assume brake pads are toast. When the car is in motion it sounds like a grinding noise. It's coming from what sounds like both front tires. It's not just a noise, but when the gas is applied from a stop and the car starts to move, it actually feels like the hub bearings are seizing and aren't spinning very easily. The noise dies out/ drones out at around 45 - 50mph but after hearing the noise I didn't take it much above 30mph as I limped home. Glad to be home, but not glad to have a ton of repairs after spending a fortune on vacation! Oh well, I needed front end work done anyways Only 2 pics this time. I'm too exhausted right now to even look at the pics. I took these in my driveway. Total Driving Hours for this trip: Gas Mileage from Vancouver Island to Edmonton Alberta - pretty decent!!!!

is it just the pictures or is it actually blue? mine was green

It's just the camera Rob. All of my cellphones have taken the same shot, the DIC always appears blue.
I sure wish it was blue! But it is that nasty green. And yes the Select > doesn't light up, they were both out on the last trip but the SELECT V came back on! on a side-note the rest of the steering wheel lights went out on the trip home. It's really a shame this car is falling apart at just under 200K km.

YOU put pictures of my house up!? Now the cat is out of the bag! lol. Great pics brother and it was great to meet you too. To sum skiiirt up- one chill mofo that is welcome out here at anytime. Nice to see you caught one of the new ferries, those older ones should be skuttled to make an artificial reef somewhere. Too bad to hear your car is falling apart I just passed 201100 kms and she is holding up just fine. If you want to share pics of the inside of the house go for it. Cheers

Cheers Haha I knew I'd catch heat for those pics ;D But they were too freakin nice not to share! Besides. The maze of directions you gave me, I'd be surprised if anyone could find your house. I sure don't remember the way! And I've been there twice! As for the inside pics. They are all crappy cellphone quality. They really don't do the quality of the workmanship justice. Next time I actually get to hang out for more than a few hours I will bring the big camera inside. By then I can maybe afford a wide angle lens and we can get some beautiful shots of your work! The ferries were very nice! I enjoyed the ride, although the food on the ship was pretty nasty, It was a very memorable experience. Not too many of us "mainlanders" can say we have driven our Auroras on an Island! oh and I was thinking of doing portland this summer. There are a few Oregon auroras out there! Interested? Nice pictures, man! Now you just need to come to Kansas. ;D Stranger things have been known to happen! lol You never know what can happen! I was supposed to drive to Wyoming but due to unforseen circumstances I won't be making that trip this year. I can't imagine not making an effort if I came all that way! Thanks

I am up for Portland for sure! Just have to get a new passport, and that only takes like 2-3 weeks now. Not to mention Illinois would be fun, I have to go see the Sears building with that new skybox saw something on it on Daily Planet on Discovery channel, quite the feat of engineering. I haven't taken my roara out to the island yet! You beat me! tabernac. I am the 1st with a 7'' screen in an 02 tho hehehehehe. Well I can hold off on interior pics for like ever! Once some of you know exactly what I can build and what my talents are I am sure I will be getting asked ?'s left right and center. Let's leave it for maybe a BC down to California run this summer? Hey we could even hit Portland on the way through HA ha ha. Start at my place and end somewhere down in the sun Now that sounds like a plan to me.......Takers? Well now that's twice in one day on this board! back to the shadows LOL Stay classy ACNA
