the other day the wife called telling me, saying the low oil pressure alarm went off on the DIC!!!!!!! and keep going off.
glad she was smart enough to pull over and call me till i got to her! after looking at it on the side of the road, it seemed as thou it was nothing to worry about. just a fail on the oil pressure sensor. seeing it stayed at 130 PSI (lol) and when you gave it a little gas it droped to 0 set the alarm, and jumped back to 130!
have a look

real, real easy job, they make a spacial socket for pressure sensors so if you don't have a big enough deep, you'll need to buy one to make this happen!
for me it was a 1 1/6 or 27mm deep impact (impacts have a little hole on the sides)
so heres the part, you'ed be looking for!(147)
and the tools
get the car up in the air, and you'll find easy access in front of the rack to get at it.
just pull the wire clip, toss the socket on, a little turn and it'll come off the rest of the way by hand!
here it is
a little turn with a drift pin, and unscrew it by hand.
now when you go to put it back on remmber! it's a brass fitting, going into an aluminium block!! it comes with thread lock already on the part. so theres no need to go crazy over over tightening it!!!!! snug it up by hand, and give it 1/4-1/2 turn with the socket and thats all it needs.

i think mine made to about 130 k
2001 3.5 107k-296k Running with no cat now after original plugged and new one plugged after a year.high oil consumption is happening but no clouds of smoke. To be replaced in 2016! Personal quote " To each thier own erratic insyncrosee's"
Thanks, Extremist for the part pic and the 4.0 diagram. I'm going to look at it tonight. What happened to me was that my low oil pressure light came on after I got on it a couple times last weekend. I noticed the revs dropped to 500 at idle when the light came on. Normally it stays at around 600 or so at idle. So, before I bring it in I want to see if it's anything obvious. It hasn't come on since. The car has 72,000 on it so I'm hoping it's not the mains. Blah!
Just changed mine at 131088. Couldn't find a 27 mm w/o buying a set of impact sockets - the socket at autozone was $10 but was too long to get a ratchet on. Ended up with a 27 mm deep well regular socket and that was a bear to get in there with ratchet to break free and to feel secure that it is properly tightened. We'll see, but nice to see the oil press read something besides 130. Sensor was $73 with lifetime guarantee. Duralast - only one they had in stock.
Hard to convince parts guy that regular socket would work. And that impact would have been even better. You guys are great - thanks for the tips. I woulda been lost w/o this forum.
