Hopefully, the idiots left some prints. If they did & they have any criminal records, the cops will track them down soon.

Man that sucks!!! That's one big reason I'm hesitant to upgrade the factory h/u, especially around Dallas. Wheels too. I had my apartment broken into right before Christmas, they took a couple of gold rings and a bunch of stupid crap, like two broken watches and my car titles (which I reported stolen and got new copies the next business day.) Left my 17" macbook pro sitting on my desk.

Man that bites a big one. Any cameras in the parking lot? I'd check any pawn shops close by, you might find the head unit.

That's ridiculous. I couldn't believe it when you texted me about it haha. I'll look around at the junkyard today for another vent cover and/or radio. What kind of aftermarket stereo did you have?

They left the vent cover haha, the stereo I'm not AS mad about, I was planning on getting a new one soon anyways, its the ipod, and the door I care about, the cameras probably didn't catch much of anything, employees are told to park at a certain part of the lot which happens to be the very back almost certainly out of range but they are going to check it. They did pull thumb prints but I have a sneaking suspicion that they're mine : / . Plus they said they are about 8 months behind in fingerprints whatever that mean .

That really sucks man. Did you have the alarm set?
(they are 8 months behind in processing/matching recovered prints, which gives the jackwagons that are in the "system" 8 months of freedom)

Liability insurance only and yeah the alarm was set, but what they did was mess with the rod that activates the lock, looking at it it looks VERY simple to access our cars, just pop the handle with something to pry with, then use a screwdriver to push the rod down, and since it was the lock, the car sensed that it was opened with a key so no alarm sound off.
And YOU BET I am pissed off

Rob, thats actually why i leave my car unlocked at home. I live in the country and to "save energy" we turn the lights off for the front of the house. I'd never know if someone was breaking into any of our cars. I just leave it unlocked, because to me if a thief wants something, theyre getting it regardless if the car is locked or not.

Pretty sure on mine, if I use the key the alarm still goes off unless I "fob" it. Also, with the alarm set and the windows down, if you reach in to unlock it, the alarm goes off when you open the door....so if you let someone sit in the car and they unlocked from the inside, you would know when they escaped!
I'm not sure about physically opeing the door from the inside with the alarm set...?
Good luck gettin her repaired!

if my car is unlocked with the key, but set with the fob it will go off because its got an aftermarket system. the same with locking with the switch on the door and unlocking with the fob. That will also set it off, and wont stop till the battery is pulled LOL

i have the alarm off my old ninety eight on the 97' like they did before they wired to the interior lights, so if the any door is opened or the trunk for that matter when set, it'll go off! annoying the people walking by watching you car get broke'n into, lol it was nicer on the ninety eight with that car if you pulled on the handle lift, the interior lights came on as a courtesy. don't know why olds didn't put that feature on the aurora.

Really sorry for your troubles. I don't routinely test my alarm system like Tipsy, but the Intrigue turns the interior lights on when you pull the handle. I think I remember the 2G setting the alarm off if you unlock the door manually from the inside with the alarm armed - like if you reach through an open window and unlock the door from the inside.

Mine will not go off if u use the key even if you set it with the FOB. It works if you open it from the inside while its set. But luckily my buddy will be giving me an alarm he has (he bought it not realizing it wasn't remote start so never installed it and got a new one)

leave me out of your conversations, and save your snide remarks for your friends! Just a joke (or maybe just a comment, man!) I'm sure. It didn't sound attacking to me at all. Don't be so quick to snap, man!

Tested both my Intrigue and Ingela her Alero. Both alerted when we pulled up the outside handle. Aurora not alert if I open it through an open window or outer handle, if it works at all ..? Sad to hear about the burglary. I hate these selfish pigs who have to live on other people's hard work .. : (

I trigger the alarm the other day. I usually sleep in the car and lock all doors. But I still quite figure out how the alarm system works. The car really needs an alarm to check for opened windows when ignition key is out

My Camaro did the same thing IIRC. I think it was to give time to shut all doors and get away from the car so as not to set the quite sensitive shock sensor off. Do these cars have shock sensors?
