So, I picked up my 2002 Aurora 2 weeks ago and it is in pristine condition. I was from a single owner that was very particular about the maintenance. The only known issue when I got the car was a "rubber on rubber" kind of squeaking noise when turning the steering wheel.
This past weekend we had some heavy rains in my area and Monday evening I noticed a "Mildew" type smell when I opened the trunk to put some groceries in. When I started the car to leave the grocery store the SRV Stability System light came on for the first time.
So this weekend, I am going to attempt to locate the leak in the trunk and correct that. I am also going to get under the car and take a look at both hubs and the associated connections. Will probably clean the connections just to rule that out as an issue.
Since I am new to these cars, my question for the more experienced is this.... Is there any control module or piece of the air suspension or related systems in the trunk that could be effected by the moisture? Is there anything else particular to these cars that I should check? Thanks so much for your help!
Todd

Well I can't say I've had the exact same issue, but I did have a nice puddle of water accumulated in the spare tire area.
My issue (after climbing inside the trunk, closing it and having a buddy hose the ******* out of it to try and find where the leak was coming from) was coming from the rubber trunk seal, more specifically where it "rounds" the corner from the top of the trunk opening to the bottom. The seal hadn't been put on correctly from the previous owner/mechanic and it was so ever so slightly not making a tight seal and allowing water to run underneath the seal, and down on the inside of the back of the trunk (between the sheet metal and the plastic molding so you won't see it unless you take the plastic molding off) and pooling up in the spare tire compartment.
I pulled the entire seal off, applied a heavy coat of silicone and reseated the seal in the proper way. I would've replaced the seal altogether but they run over $100+ so I wasn't about to do that as a first attempt at solving the problem. So far its been 2yrs and I haven't had any further issues.
Hope that helps with at least the water accumulating issue.

there is a fix on this in the how-to section here on your water in trunk issue its very simple and easy to do.
as for the original poster with the sqeeking and turning its probably the ISS issue and its not a safety issue just a annoyence.

Sorry, I left out of my original post that the ABS and Traction Control Off lights are also on. I have the car up in the air now and nothing looks out of order. I cleaned the connections on both hubs to rule that out, but again nothing is visually obvious. Any other ideas?
Thanks Todd

My ABS, Traction Off lights were on too alomg with Service Stability System on DIC. I checked the connections for speed sensors on all 4 wheels and sprayed with electrical contact cleaner and re-assembled to check. Started car and all lights and message still there!!! I then went back to the driver's side wheel and checked the wires going to the wheel bearing/speed sensor unit and low and behold.........2 broken(actually cut) wires!!!! Removed brake caliper and removed wheel bearing and was able to solder wires together with longer leads. I also used heat shrink tubing on each connection and then a larger heat shrink for the whole thing to make it more durable. It's too bad they only allowed about 3/8" for a 1/4" wire to pass-by the axle joint housing - they should have designed with a notch and capped it to prevent this from happening. I started up and the lights and message is gone along with the Traction Control switch now works - saved from having to replace the wheel bearing/speed sensor unit anyways. Hope this helps anyone else with the same problem.
