So who here has ran at the track? and what kind of traction with what tires? Also anyone try 245 or 255, did they clear? I recently ran cooper CS4 and burnt out half the track @ full throttle 1/8th mile, nearest 1/4 mile is a ways away. I'm gonna be getting new tires soon and more traction would be awesome.

The Michelin Pilot Sports are what I run on my DTS. And these tires GRIP. I can't even get a slight squeel out of them from a stop. They turn a mundane car, into a car that can actually take a corner. On any high powered FWD car, I would strongly suggest these tires. You will not be dissapointed....unless you live where it snows. Because you won't go anywhere in the snow.

It doesn't snow much here, but when it does there are cliffs and big hills. It gets dangerous.

Yeah, lmao, I do that a lot. Last year I was 5' from the top of the big hill on my road and started going backwards. A guy in a geo tracker watched me. I almost hit a fence after doing my body work so I put it to the floor, melted through the ice fried my tires and started to barely get back on the road. Got to the bottom and that guy said damthat had a lot of power for a fwd, do you need a pull. I said man my car is twice the weight of yours, thank you but ill make it. Punched it and flew up the hill with my fingers crossed, haha. I was worried, I love my car.

Might try those out, I was leaning toward the goodyear triple tread. They don't make our size though.

and burnt out half the track @ full throttle 1/8th mile That's basically unbelievable that your car burned out for 330' on a prepped surface. To your actual question, torque management means that a grippy tire from the start isn't really necessary. The car will not break them loose very much. I ran a 14 second time on factory Michelin MXV4+ tires with minimal wheelspin. As Aura mentions, they can help in turns though. The Eagle ResponsEdge tires really transformed the cars ability to take corners. Not like it became a go-kart, but you can definitely carry more speed before the front end plows unmercifully.

Torque management is to protect your tranny. It came on after it shifted I could feel it. I ran 9 something in the 8th but couldn't hit full throttle or I would lose traction. I had a very very difficult time with traction at the track.

I thought it was to minimize damage on the powertrain? Maybe you should share it in a thread if you have info on it.

If I put it to the floor it will break loose shift in second, then all my power is gone and I have to let off the throttle to get going again.

It burned out past 100+ foot, bystanders told me. My tires are too hard, n I won't be getting them again.

Take your camera to the track next time. burning your tires went from 330' to 100' pretty quick, lol. What was it actually? We may never know. Got Goodyear Triple Treads very very awesome tire. Had to sacrifice a little size for better traction. 225/60 will work and only throws speedo off by 1 mph at 70 so not much difference there. I got an awesome deal on 1 month old tires and figured I'd try them. I always heard good things about them though.
