I wouldn't recommend silicone. If whatever sealant you want to use smells like vinegar, it has acetic acid as the thinner to keep it in a fluid state in the tube. Ascetic acid can cause rust.

Just thought I'd post an update to this. Okay after longer observation Seal All Oil & Gas. I have noticed a few things. 1 It takes a long time to cure since it isn't exposed to very much air inside the tank, and 2 it is super elastic and pretty tough when cured but doesn't have much tensile strength and it is pretty effective at resisting gasoline. So that leaves me with a solution; I cut a piece of a towel and soaked it in Seal All and used that for a gasket, after it set up I put another coating on over it. That has a lot more strength now and should withstand the 2 psi our tanks go through during summer.
It is finally sealed haha. Hard to believe something so cheap is effective.

I feel very stupid and this is my last update to this topic. There was no avail. Nothing thus far has worked every time I think something works, bammo it doesn't. It may last a little while but not past a month. I have tried everything now multiple times thinking I'm doing something wrong. The only thing left untried is that fiberglass stuff, and I have little hope, also that epoxy putty but I've read negative things on other forums about those too.
Okay so what I've done. I can not drop the tank right now, about to move and there's just no way to fit that in. Also found a junk yard tank 75 bucks but I gotta pull it also not happening right now. So to get me by a few years at least, I plastic welded a newly replace FP to the tank with a soldering flat iron. Plastic welding is not easy and you won't get much penetration without an actual plastic welder but you will definitely get a good seal. I used nylon for filler (super large zip ties are fine and 100%) then I put the strongest and best adhering glue I know of on top of that for better tensile strength E6000 try it sometime good stuff. I put 1/4" of E6000 over it all since the plastic weld is a good seal and might not be strong enough I figure that'll be permanent until I need a new FP in which case I'm getting an entire tank and used FP and replacing FP from a functional tank is a walk in the park.
So if you have this problem replace your tank NOTHING you do is going to work. I should have taken his advice when I had the time to put forth replacing the tank.

Forgot to add Bosch does make the actual pump still that is used in the FP enclosure just a heads up. No need for an entire unit and the cost of entire unit. Wish I remember the part # but I'm sure you can reference it at your local auto parts store.

I even secured bolts from the bottom with T nuts on the top to secure them, then fabbed a 11 gauge SS plate to hold everything down and a 1/4" nitrile gasket on top. The nitrile rubber ended up softening and deteriorating.
