Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone knows how to remove the wood trim from around the shifter. When my dad had the car he spilled coffee and you can see if through the clear part that reveals what gear you're in and I want to clean it but can't figure out how to remove the wood trim. Anyone who can help me out would be the best! Thanks everyone

I've seen it done with i think carpet cleaner out of the car, but I've always completely stripped down the console and cleaned it that way. Anywho, i could type it out and tell you, or just have you skim thru here and have you find it yourself ;D

Just be very careful with the P R N D lettering it comes off VERY easily on the underside of the plastic

I just ripped em out haha didn't use a drill. A little bit of the " D " paint came off when I was cleaning it but not much. looks 10 times better than it did before.

Wow yours looks a lot better than mine haha. And no I didn't glue it on. All the spots that I had to pop off all snapped back together in the holes somehow. Guess I got a little lucky lol. But the lights for the gear indicator don't work. I never even knew they were there but I bought two new bulbs while I had it out and they still don't work

Also, a high speed buffing really gives it a deep gloss

you may wanna glue it or something, it will come back off More than likely the wires to the bulb are broken. Very common. Mine were still held together with tape but were internally broken. I re-soldered them and added some slack by rearranging where they came out of the main snake. While you have the console out again, I would go ahead and put some epoxy or something on the connection points so it doesn't come apart in the future.
