So im driving along this road and at a stop light in front of me is a hyundai genesis turbo coupe 2.0. The light turned green and the hyundai gave it a decent go, clearly didnt floor it, so I hung on him, then saw the hyundais rear end dip and u can tell it was giving all. It was already a gap of 2 cars between and I wanna say it was around 40mph. I floored it and reeled him in. I could have definately passed him but I was approaching 90 mph....i proved my point lol Im just surprised I even had a chance....i didnt know the luxury boat had it in it lol. It was cool..this northstar winds out nice....now we need more performance backing. Would be nice porting the heads or something

I know a classic can't hang with one. 2g ftw! Yeah - we know. However, the majority of people who drive these cars are grandmas or people who say a "luxury car shouldn't be fast"

Trust me, the driver of that car was not giving it his all. Probably just doesn't know how to drive a stick.
Plus from 40 the Aurora drops it into second gear, and you aren't even in your power band till about 50-55. After driving both the coupe and the sedan versions of the Genesis, I assure you, both are far superior in performance than any Aurora. The gearing in those cars is quite impressive, at almost all speeds that transmission will shift into the perfect gear keeping that engine right in it's power band.
I love the Genesis coupe. And would certainly not mind owning one of the new R sedans.

What? From most road tests I've found - the 2.0T Genesis does the quarter mile in the 15s range.
The 2g Aurora 4.0's, from what I've seen on here, do it in the high&mid 14s range.
Not hard to believe..
The 3.8 genesis, on the other hand, is a whole different machine.

yea.. and do they make an automatic version as well?...because the whole run I never saw the shifting...looked pretty smooth to me....so he couldnt have been that bad of a driver...or maybe it was just an auto. Our 1/4 miles suck....but from a roll the Aurora is pretty damn quick im noticing...especially in certain MPH bursts....I mean I was assuming i floored it from 40 mph.. but it coulda been from 50...all I know is I was rolling into the speed and when I floored it I took off like a rocket lol and the Hyundai was maintaing that 2 car gap to begin with but I was even with him by around 90mph and shut down. I woulda def. passed him if I didn't let up.

Websites also list the Aurora as a 9 second 0-60. We all know that isn't accurate. The second Gen is quicker but just because tom can do the quarter mile in 14.9 seconds doesn't mean that leroy won't get the quarter done in 15.4. It's all driver skill. From a roll, 60+, the Aurora, both second and first gens will generally hang with most of the newer base model cars. Had this been a race from a dig, with both parties trying, and on a physical track, the outcome would have been completely different. The Genesis would have more than likely jumped the line and held a 3-4 car lead till mid track. The aurora would have entered it's overly long second gear and begin pulling on the genesis. By the end of the track the Aurora would have still lost. But most likely by closer to 2 lengths. The Aurora is a highway king/Queen. Not a city car. On the highway the outcome would be much more favorable. With the longer gears, but constant Torque the Aurora would be staying in it's power band longer. Thus probably tromping the Genesis 2.0. We drove all the models when they were first released. I have the review around here somewhere. The Sedan is impressive. And that 3.8 Coupe is incredible. The 2.0 is great in it's own right, but seems to choke at it's top end. Almost seems like it's not getting enough oxygen. That is where the Aurora shines. Sorry for the book here. Condensed version: Aurora< Genesis in town Aurora> Genesis on highway
