I am motor shopping and looking for some ideas. If you switch an Autobahn Aurora differential or transmission and computer into a regular Aurora, you turn your Aurora into an Autobahn. If I take the 300hp 4.6, the differential or trans and computer and put it into an Aurora would it achieve the desired results of more horsepower and higher shift points?

should work... I think the only question would be if the Caddy programmed PCM and other Olds modules will communicate properly, but worst case would be it doesn't and you just revert to an Aurora Autobahn PCM. Go for it!

I'm not sure that would work... I know that to do the autobahn swap yes, you need the trans AND computer. A friend a d I tried putting just the computer in my non-autobahn to see of the speed limiter would still be off and what not buy the car wouldn't crank or something.
As far swapping to a caddy computer... Try it, I don't think it will work but its worth a shot. Into does work you'll probably have other things that won't function properly is my guess. However this is nothing westers couldn't handle, send them your computer and tell them what you're doing, I sent mine in and they tuned mine for a 4.6 with chrfab Cams and other mods... (Of course I don't know of it works yet) but they had the confidence that it would; and if any changes needed to be made they said they'd fix them for free.

I was wondering also as I thought of using the computer so I can get higher shift points. Even though I do want higher points than the Caddy atleast it would be higher than it is right now.
I do plan on contacting Wester's as when I have the money to go forward with a tune though. I'm fairly confident they are competent, just not a fan of waiting with no car.

They can set the shift points to whatever you want them to be, I had them set my redline to 7100 for my built engine (I have a lot of headwork done to accommodate such high rpms.)
Just get you a spare computer for your car as you wait... You can find them cheap enough somewhere If you really want to do this... I'd recommend it. You could always sell the spare and get your money back afterwards.

I will probably look for an LD8, then go with the autobahn trans ratio, so I can switch to an Autobahn if the caddy pcm doesn't work, like Bob said. If I do that, though, and it works, then it would probably work with the L37 matched with it's proper trans ratio. I don't want to try it, and have to switch my differential again if it does not work.

Haha.. Slow... Just trying to accumulate the rest of the parts and stuff that I need or the build. Still have to get the trans built, gotta put the motor together, then put the engine together and I can drop everything in. I had westers tune my computer, I pretty much have all the parts needed. Hopefully ill have the motor together soon.
