So I was driving to school and a minivan was being let across the street as I was pulling into the center left hand turn lane. I couldn't see the van was being let through. The van darted out in front of me in the turn lane and I didn't have enough time to react and fully stop. She should have inched out and checked for traffic. Now I have to get my bumper painted, and maybe a lower bumper valence (where the fog lights are).

Dammit!! Good news is your okay. Bad news is obvious. Another good note is that it appears to only need a paint job which her insurance should cover! Hopefully there isent any hidden damage behind the bumper

Sorry that had to happen. The person who waived them through is also at fault.

Yeah. The car is not bad at all really.. Is there a way to check for damage behind the bumper without taking it off? Or is it not that bad?

I really doubt it. There's a bit of foam behind it, and at most it's cracked, but if it was bad you would have had airbag deployment lol

Yeah. The car is not bad at all really.. Is there a way to check for damage behind the bumper without taking it off? Or is it not that bad? Taking it off isn't too hard, just some plastic liner underneath and two bolts on the top lip of each front fender. What wireless said, though. There's a ton of foam behind there, if it was bad enough to hurt the metal behind the foam you would've had an airbag in your face. ;D

Consider yourself lucky my last aurora was totaled in similar fashion. Good news is, his insurance paid for my new one (with extra leftover) and hers will pay for your paint. I assume she was ticketed as well. Looking at those pictures in that link make me want projectors again lol

I would be mad if that happened to my cars, people just are dumb! I would definately make her insurance company pay for your paint repair!
You do realized Oldsmobile in the early 1970's designed the 5mph roll bumper guards so nothing really gets damaged at slow speeds is why you see foam between the guard and bumper. Oldsmobile's engineers at best and also the first airbag.

Hey guys! Is there a way to pull of the bottom part of the front bumper? I would like to clean up and or replace my plastic, or is it all one piece?

Are you talking about the plastic trim around the fog lights? That's all one piece with the bumper

The reason I ask, is because I wanted to swap it out. That lower part on the bumper has some scuffs on it and is slightly dented. Any ideas on how to repair it? It's not bad, but enough to annoy me. I'll post some pics. Also, I fixed the paint! Looks good enough until I can get her in this summer.

Wet sand. Two part flexible urethane repair. Wet sand down to even surface and feather. Prep. Adhesion Promotor/Primer. Paint. Or something along those lines.
