These are on my 96 now, it's the full system from my 99. It's not easy to tell if they were silver or black but you can see from the rust on the edge that it's chipped no matter what color it is, I don't want to polish it up and have to constantly fight all that rust haha. I have tried polishing before with no luck, I'm pretty positive they're black. Best to powdercoat anyway haha. The powdercoat will still look great long after the car is gone. ;D EDIT; pic resized.

Thats what mine looked before I messed with them. Not that much corrosion on the rolled portion of the tip though. And the '98s look like that too. Haven't tried anything on them. If I get some time I will attempt to polish them.
I am likely getting some dual tips anyways though.

I also used John Deere black muffler paint on the pipes and mufflers. Hey brother. I sent you a PM, but I looked up the John Deere muffler paint and it says it is only good to 600*F! How far did you have painted and how does it look after this time has passed since application?

I'm not a huge far of my Corsa tips however they were made for a Seville, but here they look after some trimming on the rest of the pipe.

The 600 degree temp is no problem. I paint the pipes, mufflers and visible suspension components from the rear. I used the spray paint you have pictured purchased at the local John Deere sales.

Yeah the tips don't get up that high, 600 isn't a problem. The heat has enough time to dissipate before that.
Looks good, Tommy!

Thanks Tommy. My '96 doesn't see much winter weather.
I was wanting to paint at least to the resonator. Would prefer to do it all from the catback but I am not sure the 600 will stand up there.

I don't think it would. I'm not sure of the exact EGT at the cat but I would imagine it gets pretty hot. Do you have one of those laser temp readers? That would be the beat way to check short of using a thermocouple.

The exhaust piping should run cooler from the cat back especially if the cat is gutted.

My friend uses it on his 13.5 liter John Deere 9RT with no problem!

I'm going to have to do mine again in spring. I've been neglectful keeping up with the detailing since I have a house to fuss around with now hahaha

Electrostatic tommy, how'd you get your tailights and cornering lights so clean? I want mine to look like that, I know this isn't a lights cleaning thread but if anyone can help, thanks
