I have always loved the no key system with the newer cadillac's and push to start. Well i think i have found a kit that im willing to give a shot on installing. Of course i would need some help from you guys with which wires i need to tap into, and such providing the kit does not come with detailed instructions for the aurora,or should i say GM pass key system. It would be cool to be the first with something on an aurora lol. Here's the link to the kit: www.advancedkeys.com/Prod_AK104B.html

I bet you it would probably be an almost identical process to installing a remote start, with the vats bypass and stuff, and installing one of those is fairly straightforward so this shouldn't be too much trouble.

Looked into that kit a couple years ago. You still need a key to unlock the column. They recommend breaking an ignition key off(sans resistor) and leaving it in the ignition cylinder. I'm not a fan of that at all. The only other option is removing the steering wheel lock completely. Which is not safe IMO. As they mention. Also the having to add a toggle switch to use the accessory key 'position'. I am pretty confident the same thing can be achieved with RFID reader, push-start button and a couple of relays.

That steering colum lock issue is rubbing me in the weong direction. I didn't think about that being in the equation. Enlighten me a bit sall on what you mean by the same can be acheived with just the RFID card and some relays.

That's what I was thinking RCA. But seeing how I've never! Installed a remote start I'm a butnervous lol .

RFID Module: $22 dx.com/p/auto-recognition-system-dc-12-3v-105315Wire in generic or s2000(honda) push start button. Same thing for much cheaper. You still have to bypass column and wire like they suggest. <--- Still sucks. You are using the RFID module to bypass VATS but only when you are range. Actually, I tell you what(Hank Hill). Let's make it a project some time. It's sold out right now it appears.

Yes we can definitely make this a project. looks like we might be able to knock this sucker out the park for less than $50. You can def get a push button for less than $25.

Hopefully they restock them soon. I would do it on the '98 for test Guinea but would still prefer to have a spare ignition switch harness to tap into since you have to split the acc wire with the dumb key in the cylinder. The '98 already has bypass wired in anyways for VATS.

Good options, but the DIY option seems to only have a range of 50-75mm??
EDIT: Ordered one anyways. Pretty inexpensive. I can use it for something else anyways if it does not pan out haha.

I wonder if we could use a solenoid to disengage the steering lock.

I wonder if we could use a solenoid to disengage the steering lock. That seems like a good idea. I really want to do this push to start. The kit you suggested does look nice!

I like that kit too. For simplicity. I like DIY stuff, don;t get me wrong haha. One button does everything. ACC, ON, & Start. It's also a remote start. I don't really like spending that much for overseas purchase but eBay/PayPal has always been very good to me. I will look for something similar in function and price stateside first.
I sent the seller a message and asked for some English installation instruction to review haha.

Renaldo, I contacted the seller on eBay and he emailed me the install diagrams .pdfs. I also found the same kit on aliexpress for a buck 40. The downside to all of this is..... that button won't fit over the Classic ignition cylinder due to the two protrusions that surround the key head.

Then we may have to just leave it in place. Install the push to start else where. I was thinking of putting it below the trunk, and fuel door buttons, right where there is a cut out for a vent already.

Thought about that too but that's actually part of the HVAC system. There is a sensor in there.
Then there would also be the whole key still visible in the ignition with no way to cover it because of the ignition cylinder protrusions or just the visible cylinder with the cutout off key. I am sure you could cut/grind them off though if one really wanted to do this.
I will probably just do a remote start in the coming months. Good luck!

And this is the back. I don't remember seeing a sensor behind there.

It sits back in the duct. It's the interior temp sensor(thermistor) IRRC.

That is true. I'm thinking below the cup holders. Behind the shifter.
