I was just informed that Oldsmobile retiree Jim Walkinshaw passed this weekend. For those that aren't aware who he is, he co-authored "Setting The Pace" and "Oldsmobile: The War Years" with Helen Earley, They were considered by many to be the top Oldsmobile historians.
If any of you have ever attended the Homecoming show in Lansing you may have seen the elderly gentleman giving rides to kids and big kids at heart in his 1904 Curved Dash Olds. That was Jim keeping the memory of Olds alive.
I had the chance to speak with him at one of the National and had my Final 500 photographed with his Curved Dash Olds a couple of years ago. He is one of the nicest guys you would ever want to meet.
RIP Jim, say hello to Ransom, Helen and John Rock for us.

I got the "Setting The Pace" myself in my Olds collection of books. Must been amazing to see when he gave kids a ride in a Curved Dash. RIP Jim.
