I have the stock 17.5inch rims on my 01'. I don't know the name or style but they are the same rims that "tigger" has on his picture signature. My car was white and I was thinking of getting my rims painted black. I wanted to leave the lip chrome or unpainted since mine are just aluminum and also take the center caps off and just have the chrome lug nuts. Of course paint the center black as well.... Anyone have any thoughts on this? Has anypone done this yet? I'm just trying to figure out if it will look good or not.....

If you plan on painting them black o would just plasti dip them. Really nice and not permanent in case you want to change it or dont like it.

Scotty, I had a similar idea a few years ago. I was going to "black-out" ALL the chrome; window trim, badges and wheels. After about 30 minutes in PhotoShop it started looking like a police cruiser. ;D It just didn't seem to suit the car to me, never pulled the trigger. Anyway, here's a PS mock-up of a wheel that I did back then. Sorry it's kinda sloppy, it was just to get a general idea. Hope it helps.

I think it would look ok so long as you do it right (good prep, no runs etc)

yea I mean I see what you mean about the police appearance...but I was thinking more of just leaving the outer lip unpainted...not the flat side, then take off the center cap and paint it all black but leave the lug nuts chrome....I think it would look pretty sweet. For an idea of what I mean, youtube- "regal vid". You will see a black buick regal GS with the exact way I wanted to paint the rims.
