The bad news:
I cracked one of my aftermarket wheels…
They are older (13-14 years old), and have been on a number of my cars.
After an exhaustive search and finding that there appear to be no replacements for my wheel to be found (They were discontinued years ago), I was left with a choice:
1) Run the stock wheels (that I’ve never really liked).
2) Purchase a new set of wheels.
The GOOD News…
I selected option 2!!!
I decided to go with 18” wheels to get the look I wanted.
I have always liked 5-spoke wheels. (I like symmetry and appreciate the proper lug nut to spoke ratio ). I narrowed the search down to about 6 different wheels, but couldn’t decide. After a few discussions with my wife, I decided on the American Eagle Wheel MSR 048.
They make 4 different styles. 1) Polished face with Argent trim. 2) Polished face with Black trim 3) All black 4) Chrome.
I like the chrome, but they were WAY out of my price range. I didn’t want to go all black with a black car (not the look I’m going for). That left me with the argent trim or black trim. I was still bouncing back and forth until it came time to place the order.
Initially, I made the decision to go for the argent trim wheel, however, I found that they are on national backorder with no eta.
Since the Black trim wheel was in stock, the choice was much easier.
I ordered MSR 048 wheels 18”x7.5” Polished “Superfinish” with black trim. I had a set of 235/50/18 Goodyears mounted.
Here are the results:
