What GM model would have a steel rim that is the right size to use as a spare for a 1998 classic? I just got back from a 850 mile vacation and ended up blowing out my right front tire and before getting home my super small spare failed also. I would like to have a full size spare to throw in when I'm going long distances. Thank you.

There are many GM cars that have the same bolt pattern as Auroras, Pontiacs or Buicks would be some that might have steel wheels, might be hard to find one in 16", though. I have a full size Aurora wheel I use for a spare, you can get them off of ebay pretty cheap.

The full size aurora wheel with tire doesn't fit down in the hole for the spare does it?

No it won't, the hole in the trunk is designed for just the doughnut. They do that to save space and weight. You could always just stick one in the trunk though. I have thought about keeping a wheel off of my old set as a full sized spare myself for road trips.
