Had my 99 inspected and they brought me out to look at car on lift. (Never a good sign) They showed me that the passenger side rear cross member was pretty much rotted out. Said the control arm could break off and the car was not really safe to drive. See pic. I checked on ebay and they had several rear cross member for sale. Can something this bad be replaced or should I just part the car out? Thanks

Are you talking about the rear sub-frame or part of the body structure itself? The suspension sub frame is available in many junk yards. Also I was just wondering if you live in a high salt area? I had rust trouble with my 95 on the front sub-frame connection and had to weld in some 1/8 in plates to put it back on the road. Dam Salt. Rich

Yes it is the rear sub frame. I have seen on ebay where you can get these. And yes I am in the Cleveland, Ohio area. An extreme salt area. I am wondering if it would be worth doing since the car has other frame issues?

Does anyone know what the cross-referance is on the rear sub-frame, I have a 95 and 99 Aurora, would a rear sub frame from a 02 deville or park ave work? RICH

I don't know for a fact, but they seem to have the same suspension, I think it would work, just try to get every bolt and piece that comes with it, your rear sway bar may be a little bigger, but that's a bonus.

I was down at the local pick and pull and checked some measurements and the 02 deville looks correct. My 95's tie-rod links are thin and rusty and This must have been a snowbirds car so I pulled the complete assembly for $77 including brakes and calipers, air shocks but no springs. The rotors are .5 in larger and the sway bar is also thicker. I will paint it up and put it on after the next winter season. I will say this, that assembly was a-lot heaver than anticipated, so why are the parts I need always in the back of the wrecker's lot. I went with one of the new members of the club and we gathered parts for our Aurora's together.
If the rest of your Aurora is still useable, this job with used parts should not be that bad.
